When I bought a Samsung washer/dryer set I did not realize I would need to buy these in order to get the WiFi functionality to work. The dryer was a breeze to set up, connected to phone app first time I tried. Washer took a great number of tries, a help desk ticket and an app upgrade in order to finally connect. For the washer and dryer the WiFi connection doesnt add much. For the dryer if gas you cannot make any changes to the cycle, only tells you time left and alerts when the cycle is done. The washer allows you to make a few changes to cycle and gives a count down and alerts you on the phone app when finished. Bottom line, this item is a money grab and should have been included in the appliance. Not worth $30 each

Bought this for my refrigerator after the freezer drawer was left open one night. Plugged it in, opened the SmartThings app, and it connected with no issues. I now get notifications on my phone if any of the doors/drawers are left open.

These Smart Thing USB dongles are great. It took some trial and error and retrying to get them to connect with my washer and dryer but once they were connected they have stayed connected or reconnected on their own. We have a 65 inch Samsung Frame TV and the alerts that the washer or dryer cycle are complete are helpful. We also have other Samsung appliances that hook to the internet and they also show up on the TV or alerts on my mobile device.

I ordered 2 of these, one for each of my new washer and dryer in order to use the Smart Control functionality. While I do think it's ridiculous for Samsung to require the adapter on a few different units in order to connect to Wi-Fi, that's not important for the purpose of this review. I was unable to even connect my washer or dryer for 8 weeks following my purchase. I tried changing a bunch of router settings, etc, as per message board recommendations to no avail. I almost returned the adapters since I thought they were inoperable initially. I gave up on it for a while and good thing I did. On Dec 27, 2018, an update to the Samsung SmartThings app allowed functionality for washers and dryers. (I had initially been trying about 3 weeks prior to that date.) Why would a product say it was compatible for my model but ultimately be unusable because of app permissions? That was frustrating to me. About a month after the app update, I tried to connect again. Both the washer and dryer connected within seconds, flawlessly. I am able to monitor and control (within advertised confines) both the washer and dryer. The caveat is, the washer or dryer needs to be on and Smart Control needs to be active in order for you to control. So, no ability to start a load of wash while finishing up at work, etc. This is an inherent limitation of the overall product, not a reflection of the adapter itself. TLDR; 4 stars instead of 5 due to the fact that it works exactly as advertised for its limited features, but should have had app compatibility right out of the gate.

I bought two - one for my washer and one for my dryer. As many reviewers stated, the adapters really should have been included with the appliances as mine were specifically bought for the wifi capabilities. In any case, the set up leaves a lot to be desired. Physically installing them was a breeze and I went through all the steps in the app. The adapter for the washer worked immediately. The dryer was another story. I struggled for weeks to connect it, and it was only after I found an online forum from users with the same issue did I get it resolved. After getting them set up I've been very pleased with the adapters. I am able to check the progress of my washer and dryer, select cycles, etc. I'm happy with the capability and though it doesn't offer every option the washer and dryer panels offer, they allow you to access the most-used ones. I'm overall pleased with the adapters.

This adapter converts some newer washer and dryer smart and app compatible, can control washer and not dryer due to safety reasons. But it’s a time saver, sends notification when a cycle is done.

Tried to pair this with the washer and followed the instruction exactly but fail to connect with the washer. Call Samsung for help which is pointless gave the run around. So try this on the dryer and it was able to connect. Useful notification on phone of when dryer is done. Can't remote start with gas dryer.

Does not work. Well, it doesn’t work well. After over 30 exchanges with Samsung support, these could not be set up. They forget their settings and there is no hard reset option. Performance is very inconsistent and there are several delays during setup. I was able to connect they dryer one time, but then it reset one day and wouldn’t accept any password. I tried troubleshooting with support for months and still no progress. Support would often ask the same questions that had already been answered (even model numbers, and app versions).

The sync process was not easy. I had to change router settings to get it to work which the average person may not know how to do. The support resources were very responsive and gave me a place to start. Once the device was discovered on the network the sync worked and the washer and dryer were successfully added. I love all the new functionality, including the notifications when the washer and dryer cycles are done.

Samsung could have done a better job with these things. Trying to get them to connect is the worst. Once i did get them connected to both my washer and dryer they work great.

I bought this Smart Home Adapter for my dryer. Unfortunately, because it’s a gas dryer the only thing it does is notify you when 5e load is finished, you can’t program it to do anything else. That’s fine by me. When I’m watching TV, I’ll get a notification on the screen that it’s finished, which helps so I’m not making multiple trips to the basement to check to see if the dryer stopped.

When mounted on the washer / dryer, they allow for a message to your phone saying the load is done. That's about it. For many, that won't be very helpful. But for me, living in a quint-level house with laundry in the basement so I can't hear whether the machine is done or not... it serves as a great reminder to go down and put the wet clothes in the dryer before they get mildewy.

not the easiest to activate but once its activated it works wonderful, it notifies you when your washer or dryer cycle is completed, needs service, or has an issue with the load. You can also control the settings of the washer and dryer for certain things. (gas dryers are view only the settings but thats for safety reasons)

This is a must for the washer and dryer that I bought. I dont know why Samsung made these instead giving these integrated with washer and dryer. Just to get more money!? It is a kind of giving false information when we buy washer and dryer and realize when it got delivered that it is not smart until we have these additionally. I would say it is dumb smart concept

I wish I would have listened to all the people who wrote negative reviews. Being pretty tech savvy, I thought maybe all the negative reviews were due to user error, so I went ahead and ordered two for my washer and dryer. The smart setup is not only an absolute nightmare, it simply does not work. I contacted Samsung and they couldn't even trouble shoot the problem. All they did was give me the run around and ask me to send screen shots of this and that. Complete waste of 3 hours. Had I known ahead of time that these didn't work, I would have never purchased the washer and dryer I did. The only reason I went with them in the first place was the ability to have smart connection and receive phone notifications when the loads where done. These are awful and I highly suggest you not only pass on these but look at other smart washer and dryers.

I use this for my Samsung washer - Device works well, but you will need a solid internet connection. Notifies you when cycle is complete through SmartThings app. Integrates with Alexa, BUT IS LIMITED....you can ask Alexa how much time remains on a cycle and she will tell you, but you won’t get a notification from Alexa when the cycle is complete. If there was an update where Alexa could announce the end of a cycle, this would have scored higher.
