Sandi Shoemake - Shophisticated Lady - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Recorded live at the Hamlet on California's central coast (home of the prestigious Famous Jazz Artist Series), jazz vocalist Sandi Shoemake (formerly with Nelson Riddle & Si Zentner) presents her first-ever album as a leader, accompanied by 2 fine jazz soloists, saxophonist Pete Christlieb & guitarist Bruce Forman; she sings timeless songs by Irving Berlin, Julie Styne/Sammy Cahn, Harry Warren & others.

Vinyl LP pressing. 2011 album from the British Anarcho-Punk band. A notorious recluse, songwriter and lead singer Steve Lake has reunited Zounds only intermittently since the band's early '80s heyday, despite receiving numerous requests to record and tour. The ten songs he has written for the Redemption of Zounds retain all the hallmarks of the classic template incisive lyrics, sharp guitars, satirical overtones, emotional terror and great, memorable tunes. It sounds totally at home in a modern world that Lake claims 'is as bewildering, absurd, tragic and joyful as it ever was.Inch

This time it's their first jazz entry that has golden warmth of a Blue Note from it's heyday as well as visceral instruments presence of a Contemporary Records. Recorded in Cammilleri concert hall using only a vintage tube stereo microphone, the sound of the CD is creamy like butter while the texture is so rich that you can easily discern which parts of the drum set the player hits and rubs. The big crescendo on 'For Andrew' is mind blowing!
