The SanDisk - Extreme Pro 256GB USB 3.1 Flash Drive - Black is very fast! I now own two of these and I am always using them at home and at work. I would highly recommend the SanDisk - Extreme Pro 256GB USB 3.1 Flash Drive - Black. Keep in mind that at the time of this posting BestBuy price matches against other online retailers. This can save money as other retailers may throw this on sale more often. Spec wise: I work in IT and I must say I really like the construction of the USB device. Please note that if you have a small work surface this USB device does stick out just a tad longer than most USB flash drives. The metal construction of it though makes it ideal for keeping it in your pocket so as long as one remembers it is in their pocket. Warranty: Lifetime Warranty! Keep this in mind as most USB flash drives do not offer this type of warranty. With this being said, please don't forget to register the warranty when you first get it as it would make the process easier should something happen later down the road. So as long as your careful with the flash drive you shouldn't have any issues. Note: This flash drive is backwards compatible with USB 3.0, 2.0 etc. However, the speeds of the USB flash drive will depend on what type of USB slot you currently have the USB in -results will vary based on hardware used. All in all I'm trilled with this purchase! I got this USB flash drive on a great sale. Keep your eyes out on other retailers and have BestBuy price match it for you. You will really like your new purchase!

Bought this USB drive to replace one from a few years ago that's going bad. Seriously fast for read AND write speeds(depending on the USB port it's plugged into of course), high quality metal case, the USB head is retractable, lots of storage, and a spot for a lanyard if you're concerned about losing it. I also wish I had seen this the first time: Go to Sandisc's website and REGISTER this sucker! Limited lifetime warranty, which apparently they consider that 30 years for this model! You can't go wrong with this model... until something faster comes out.

Transferring a 9GB 1080p movie file On my 2020 laptop I get around 380 MB/s Read Speed and 320 MB/s Write Speed. That is with a Western Digital SN730 SSD and a Intel i7-10750H. Both 3.2 Gen1 and 3.2 Gen2 ports produced the same speeds. On my old PC from 2010 with a Samsung HDD and i7-2600K I get about around 100 MB/s Read/Write Speed via USB 3.0 and 20MB/s via USB 2.0 Obviously speeds will vary depending on system, hardware integrity and the such but you likely wont reach speeds of 420/380. Something like 350/300 is what you should probably expect and thats still plenty fast. Comes with SecureAccess on the drive to protect your files in a "vault" but you dont have to use it, nor do you get a prompt to. Also comes with a 1 year code for RescuePRO that you can download, allows you to recover deleted files. Plugs right into my Sony Bravia and plays/fast forwards all 1080p content perfectly. I dont have any 4K digital movies to test. Make sure to price match, as it can be found much cheaper than on BestBuy.com

Outstanding! Fast, and handles large or small files as well as external hard drive do. SanDisk is the only flash drives that I have tried that don't trip on small files, like links, and file sizes that are under one megabyte. All the other brands I have tried are good on photos and music (5 to 10 meg), but cough up hairballs on the small files. SanDisk flash drives are not bothered by them a bit. And this new series of SanDisk flash drives are blazing fast!

The speed is decently fast for me on reads and writes. My purpose was to offload from my cell phone large files that run in the GB size. I attempted to use an OTG device because of the USB C connector, but could not get the phone to recognize this drive. Instead I transferred the files to a computer temporarily, then to the flash drive. The casing is metal-like unlike other thumb drives with plastic casing. Runs rather cool while attached. Got this during Black Friday season. Did not want to wait for the price to drop.

This thing is fast. Period. Click. Watch. Done. Not quite as fast as my SSD drive, but not far behind. I love that I can slap my Pro Tools files on it before I hit the road for work without having to wait a long time for the files to transfer. There's always last minute movies, songs, and work files you want to make sure you have with you. Plug it in, drag the files, and watch it work. Love it. The only thing I don't like is that it got kind of hot while in use. It wasn't too hot to pick up, just hot enough to warrant some concern for what's inside getting messed. I would still recommend it, and I plan on getting more of the 256GB to replace or duplicate my external hard drives.

Not sure why so many reports of issues with this flash drive - I've had it for a while now and I've had ZERO problems with it. It's a little speed demon with storage for days! I've got a Linux distro installed on it and the balance of the space being used for persistence - I've not had problem #1 with it and I use it as my primary OS drive on the laptop I'm running it on.

I bought this flash drive to clear space on my laptop hard drive. I checked reviews online and chose this one based on the transfer speeds and upgraded materials since this would serve as a file archive. So far I have been very pleased with its performance. File transfers are fast even with the back compatibility to USB 2.0 using a MacBook Air.

I purchased this drive to add storage space to my Shield TV. The shield recommends a few models on their website, but I chose this one for it's speed and reliability. It has not disappointed. It's about half full now, and still as fast as when I bought it.

This is the best flash drive I have ever used. It's well constructed, looks good, and fast. It costs more, but worth the price.

I bought this faster flash drive because my old 128gb drive was almost full. I tried a regular 256gb and it was very slow. Sandisk replaced the drive and it also was slow. This one works just fine and is much faster when entering data. Make sure you get Best Buy to match the Amazon price online. Savings is considerable.

It is very good. Heats up a little. But make sure you have a usb 3.2 to connect it to. To get full speeds. Otherwise for 3.1 you only get 250 mbps and 170 mbps read and write respectively.
