Disappointing, but adequate for moderate speed writes. Tested with Ubuntu Linux 14.04.2 on Sony VGN-NW270F using default Disks utility. My computer has USB 2 ports. Benchmarking parameters:: Transfer Rate Samples = 100, Sample Size = 10 MB; Access Time Number of Samples = 100. Results:: Averages: Write = ~12 MB/s Read = ~39 MB/s Comments:: Reads were fairly constant at ~39 MB/s with insignificant fluctuation. Writes spiked sharply between 12 and 7 MB/s. Access times were constant at ~0.99 ms. Conclusions:: I have a few PNY flash drives of the same capacity, purchased recently, that benchmark about the same on read and access, but are twice as fast on write. The waveform on the PNYs are square and may contribute to the better write speeds. The SanDisk had sharp points on the top and bottom of the waveform. I'm not an engineer, but I suspect the controller in the PNY flash drive may be more modern and advanced than the one in this specific SanDisk flash drive.

San Disk USB drives have been reliable to me in the past, which was the reason why I choose this USB flash drive. I plugged it into my computer and immediately my computer started to run slower. I tried to format it to fix the problem, but then got a error message saying it is read only and not able to format. I tried to find a solution online, but none of the tricks worked, so I did an exchange. The 2nd one seems to be working fine, but now I don't trust it with my important information.

I downloaded about 34GB of .mp3 music files onto this USB drive to play nonstop in my car stereo while driving, but after a few trips, I noticed some of the tracks sounded like they were skipping or distorted. I'm not sure if this is in the stereo system itself, or the USB is defective, but I switched to a pricier USB brand and have had no such problems.

The drive is fast and works as any thumb drive does and there isnt much to say good or bad. I bought the drive because of the encryption to secure files when I carry the drive and thought that since this is SanDisk it would be well thought out. The encryption , San Disk Secure Access comes on the drive and it is a simple process to set up a password. When you do this you find out that this is the light version and for the full access version you need to buy the upgrade. I am reluctant to upgrade due to the poor workings of the light version such as transferring files. When I tried to transfer several word files by dragging them from the thumb drive back to the computer I found that I could only transfer one file at a time. This was very irritating and due to the process I missed file and it wasn't until later that I realized this. In my opinion they should give you a trial version of the full program instead of the limited light version.

I spent extra on this so we would have more than enough storage space to put family photos and use for schoolwork. Then as soon as I got the flashdrive back from the photographer, I couldn't open a single file to view any of our pictures. I heard it could be a compatibility issue with Windows 10, but it advertises that it can be used with Windows. Sincerely, Disappointed

I bought this device because I wanted to have it on my key chain in case I ever needed to do quick transfers of files from one computer to the next. I didnt like the sound the hard plastic made whenever i would move. Plus, the usb part kept sliding out. It has a lot of storage but the quality of the device could be better if it is meant to be on a key chain.

It states that it is backward compatible with USB 2.0 but it will not work in my 2016 Truck that is 2.0. I used an older version of this similar product and it works just fine. It seems to work in my 3.0 laptop. Just be careful if you need it for a USB 2.0 device.

this is NOT USB3 ready .. sure it can do the USB 3 transfer speeds but it will get literally burning hot when doing so ONLY USE WITH USB 2.0 or spend a little extra on a better drive of the same capacity

I had problems with my computer where the mother board crashed. Brought it in to Geek Squad $100 later , mother board fried, Do you want this info backed up? I guess as I wasn't sure what I might have on there ok another $100, Oh by the way you need to purchase a Flashdrive and we happen to have one on sale another $18. After $218.00 Had to purchase new computer, not tech savvy so I had to call HP several times to get it going and have only data recovered from flash drive NOT ANY PROGRAMS. I guess my info is on the new computer, now if I can just find it ! GEEK SQUAD OVERPRICED.. SERVICES OVERPRICED, AND SHOULD HAVE INCLUDED THE FLASH DRIVE FOR THE PRICE.

Very bad design of retracting case since when you put on key ring, it will not stay closed due to case is made wrong.

64gb has 59.6gb of usable space. Most have some embedded overhead which reduces this to 58.8gb. That is considered the standard, but for some reason all of the SanDIsk that I have checked only has 57.8. I needed to clone a standard 64gb thumb drive, but could not use the SanDisk because the clone needs to have at least the same or greater available space which the SanDisk does not have making it a brick for my needs. Had to buy another brand.

I bought this sandisk usb flash drive to back up my new windows 10 pc. Although I didn't need 64gb I bought it because it was on sale for the same price as the 32gb one. But when I got home and unpacked it and then used it to back up my system I found that it only had 32 gb originally. I didn't want to go through all the hassles of returning it because I had my b/u and wouldn't be using it to store anything else.

This is a great memory stick for the price and came in very handy.

This USB was either broken or defective from the first time I plugged it in. It wouldn't read or recognize. At first I thought it was the computer I was on, but I tried it on 4 different machines and no go. I was able to get a replacement through Sandisk because the 14 day return period was over. Hopefully the replacement one works!

First thing off the bat, the encryption soft ware needs updating. The updating process requires research on the consumers responsibility. It is soooo unclear on exactly where to go get the update. We were successful because my friend was a Geek Squad computer geek. OMG! I accidentally stumbled onto the solution.
