I purchased this Seagate Expansion 28TB drive for large backups and long-term storage. It offered excellent capacity for the price, was easy to set up, and Windows recognized it without any complicated configuration. After some time, the drive stopped working properly. I contacted Seagate support through their online web chat, and the experience was excellent. The representative confirmed that the drive was still under warranty, created the replacement request, and sent me a return shipping label. They also asked whether I wanted to use the included free data recovery service before replacing the drive. The support process was clear, professional, and much easier than I expected. Even though the drive stopped working, Seagate’s warranty service, online chat support, replacement process, and included data recovery option gave me confidence in the brand. Overall, this is a great high-capacity storage option backed by very good customer service.

Must tell you that I am biased towards Seagate since I've gotten so many products from them that work wonderfully for the last couple decades. I've got so accustomed to their hardware that I could actually listen and hear when they are good or bad or have oncoming issues. I used to fix its motherboards at one. Point in time when I was young and my eyeballs were working. Seagate customer support has become poor. You can only reach. Them through the websites or phone. Methods in the US. Which is the deterrent? But their hardware still remains exceptional. In my estimates, this drive stands a Probability of failure within five years or more. The noise it's making Tells me an actuator crashed into the platter itself. Will occur. Eventually Possibly becoming an. Manageable deck Damage. However, this is excellent for backup purposes only. I would unplug it when not in use and then when you need to make a massive backup. Back everything up, leave it on overnight, make sure it's ventilated, and then when it's done. Unplug it. And you'll have a backup. At last you. 40-50 years. Clients from the 1980s were never upgraded from their comput Have Seagate backups that they made me recover for their new laptops and desktops Even from PATA and Satta drives. 20 megabytes all the way to. Eight terabytes that were recoverable. Beating even backups on CDS and DVDS. Seagate offers. Public file recovery software. Which I strongly recommend everyone should have. That can recover most corrupted drives as well, although it may take days when the terabytes start being recovered. You can also use Seagate's recovery program, which they are offering for a reasonable price. If you do not have somebody who has the skills to know the hardware or the software to. From hard disk crashes. So I cannot boast this is their best drive and go buy them as fast as you can. But it Has definitely proven its worth for the time that I've already had it. It's old powered USB. A cable connector. Is also. A weak point. For many Seagate drives in general It will definitely not last as long as the drive itself Therefore, try not to make it. Portable Drive, The cheaper cable Seagate distributes with its drives. Can cause power fluctuations, so it's worth it to get a nice stable cable. And replace any kind of. Lost power issues. With their cables. Immediately. Since this drive is a power hungry. Unit.

I like , work good , wish didn't have connect the power in the wall but I guess it is ok for being a Big Hard Drive

Instant win. I've been waiting to pull the plug on cloud storage and this was my solution for the storage. I already have a great computer that's older but runs fine. I plug this in, installed the drivers already on the device and registered the warranty. Easy, quite, and fast. Now I said goodbye to worrying about my storage needs and save ~$40/month on cloud storage.

I had this for about 3-4 months and I have used almost everyday. I backed up $1400 data DVDs without any glitch, under a Mac environment. Works flawlessly. Takes a little time to mount and it can be a little noisy sometimes, but that comes with the territory for such a big hdd. i remember the good old ST-225 and we have come a very long way. I gor this because it is the best for the money at thia time.

Great Hard Drive with a lot of space. Was consolidating a few drives onto this one and still have tons of space available. Super fast and compact. Just a perfect drive for all my needs and would highly recommend. I’m actually buying another one to have as a back up.

Bought two of these. One came with a faulty cable that made me think the hardrive was broke. But there's no way both were malfunctioning so I just used the working cable from the other one. Now both drives are working perfectly with all that space. Still giving 5 stars because the cable issue wasn't a big deal once I figured that was the problem.

Quiet and fast. Shucked it into my PC 290/290MB/sec notably quieter seek and idle than my HGST 10TB and 12TB. Time will tell if it's reliable both my HGST drives are over 5 years old and still in operation. If shucking, obviously need to disable power pin 3 with adapter, kapton tape, etc. Also recommend using Hard Disk Sentinel or hdparm to disable APM otherwise heads will park themselves to death constantly loading\unloading.

I was looking for reliable cold storage for some video projects I have and this works perfect! Great capacity and quick write speeds especially for the price.

Excellent price for this size external hard drive! I use it to back up my Synology NAS one a month. It is large enough that the entire synology NAS fits on thus drive. My synology is on 24/7, I know if anything happens, this drive will help me recover inportant data from my NAS.

Like the large capacity. Not 5 stars because it is extremely loud and it unmounts every time the computer goes into sleep mode. I need to restart the machine or unplug it. I dont think either solution is adequate.

Works well, replaced three smaller drives. However, 28tb is actually 25.4tb minus operating space, so usable space is more like 23 or 24 tb, still good.

So far, no problems with this external drive. I'm using it for OS backups, audiobook and movie storage, and family photos. I would not hesitate to recommend this drive.

Really good for the sale price, but pretty fragile one drop and it could stop working tho.

Purchase the Seagate 26TB a few months ago and it has performed well. This 28TB purchase was backup to my backup and works well.

I purchased these when on sale and they were a deal for 28tb. I cant say anything about longevity or reliability but they do seem to work just fine.

This is one of the very best prices you'll find for an external HDD of this size. Delivery was next day, speed of the drive is excellent, and I have no complaints to date.

Good speed and easy to encrypt. Already loaded with pics, vids and backups. Buy once and cry once! No monthly fees.

I already have one of these drives and am very Pleased. They are less expensive then the equivalent internal drives, very pleased.

Working as expected, using it with a Mac for photo and video backup. Easy setup. Highly reccomended when price per TB is right
