Sebastian Klinger - French Recital - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Martin Q Larsson is one of the most prominent profiles of the young generation of Swedish composers. His background is within jazz, folk music and electro-acoustic music but also from academic studies of Italian music from the 14th century. He is able to compose in different styles of music and his works mostly refers to a musical language already familiar to the listener. African rhythms performed by a wind orchestra, ten different musical styles played by a saxophone quartet within five minutes, half the truth of the universe explained by a flutist, electronic processed sounds from an espresso coffee machine and sounds from computer games - all this on the his first portrait CD. The Stockholm Wind Symphony Stockholm Saxophone Quartet The Kakalorum Ensemble Hans Åkesson, conductor Bo Eriksson, cor anglais Jörgen Pettersson, alto saxophone Jonas Augustsson, flute.

At the center of this recording is the Suite liturgique by Andre Jolivet, a French composer whose neglect is utterly unjustified. Christiane Karg interprets this sacred work in a ravishing and captivating manner. Stefan Schilli, solo oboist of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, is the soloist of the other titles on this CD; his guests include Sebastian Klinger and Oliver Triendl.
