Mike Adams At His Honest Weight - Oscillate Wisely (10th Anniversary Edition) - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

For ten years now, I've understood InchOscillate WiselyInch as a play on the Smiths' instrumental InchOscillate WildlyInch-itself, of course, a pun on Morrissey's muse, Oscar Wilde. This is not to say that anything about Mike Adams and his band reminds me of the Smiths (especially Morrissey), as much as the idea that rock bands like Mike Adams At His Honest Weight take shape more or less as a thesaurus of past ideas-winking at them, borrowing them like a library book, checking them out from across the room, cloning them. But the best stuff is more ineffable, far more than just cut-and-paste. There's a weird grandeur to Adams' music, starting with that fully formed, geekily majestic 2011 debut LP Oscillate Wisely, that I don't hear in anything else, before or since. A sense that Adams is guiding his listeners toward a cosmic joke so personal, so inscrutable, so funny (InchfunnyInch), if you give him your attention. It's in his blood, I think. He's not Oscar Wilde, but a uniquely Midwestern type of deeply sincere romantic and dyed-in-the-wool goofball cast from the mold of Hoosier icons like Letterman and Vonnegut. He doesn't want to believe in anything, he didn't create this body, he loves a parade. It's all in fun, but it gets so personal. Onstage, Adams is gregarious and playfully self-effacing, a college town denizen telescoping backwards to the brief early 90s moment when Inchcollege rockInch entered the corporate suite, and performers forced to become showmen retreated to the comfort of their native tongue irony. And Oscillate Wisely has demonstrated for a decade that earnestness and sarcasm are as intricately bound in rock and roll's lingua franca as hang-ups and chill hangs. I've never heard any musician summon everything I love about being from Indiana so perfectly. And I'm fucking old.- Eric Harvey

Kirlian Camera - Sky Collapse - VINYL LP

Vinyl LP pressing. 2017 EP . 'Sky Collapse' is the overture of a storm to come. Not only is it the first single from Kirlian Camera's album Hologram Moon, but also a dark song about falling skies and seemingly hopeless scenarios. Plus, it marks the collaboration of two of the most distinguished names in dark electronic world, as Kirlian Camera work with Swedish electronic icons Covenant on the A-side version of the track, which is also a duet between singer Elena Alice Fossi and Covenant's Eskil Simonsson. Kirlian Camera Mastermind Angelo Bergamini InchSky Collapse represents memories from a recent hard period during which any possible light seemed to turn into deep darkness as if everything had been lost. The sky looked as if it had collapsed just when... an unexpected ray of hope started shining on a gloomy evening. Here we are now, describing quite an ordeal with simple words and Inchdance on all those ruinsInch, whether they stand for the past we briefly mentioned above or a hard future we'll have to face. Covenant own this particular feeling, this ability to link cold electronics with drama. We have always felt connected to Eskil Simonsson and his project, so this meeting today, on these strange roads, is just a natural result of such research in music.Inch

COH - Radiant Faults - VINYL LP

Ivan Pavlov aka COH characterizes his latest solo work, 'Radiant Faults', as Inchthe recording of a dialogue,Inch rather than a set of compositions. Crafted using a rare new synthesizer, the Silhouette Eins, Pavlov's first encounter with the instrument across a long, late night session resulted in a continuous set of textures, patterns, and subliminal melodies. At some point during the process, he realized he was not alone InchIt was as if something was speaking to me through the gear - the feeling was very intense. No matter how determined and specific I attempted to be, the results were something else. They felt like 'responses.' This instantly reminded me of ELpH.InchELpH is the name coined by Coil for a Inchcelestial entityInch that emanates from electronic equipment at mysterious moments, altering the creative process in unforeseen ways. They devised the term during studio sessions back in 1994, during which sustained software accidents ultimately seemed possessed of supernatural intelligence, spawning it's own mythos. As a longtime member of Coil's inner circle, Pavlov is steeped in ELpH's ideology and influence - and highly qualified to identify an encounter of his own. 'Radiant Faults' offers a compelling addition to the ELpH canon, at the threshold of music and manifestation, embracing the Inchdivine quality of error.InchThe Silhouette Eins is a unique instrument combining the 1920's concept of an Inchoptical soundtrackInch with a hardware synth interface to Pure Data a visual programming language for producing interactive music, using real- time video signal in it's synthesis of sound. Pavlov's attempted manipulations were answered by indecipherable transmissions from some distant, unknowable place. Stark waveforms drone and bend against skeletal metronomes; murmured pulses flicker down empty corridors; high fluorescent tones gleam and glitch in zero gravi
