Q: Does this model XL UR1005AE Sharp robot come with a remote control to choose single room clean?
A: Does not come with a remote but in the system after you create a map of your house you can go in and have it clean specific rooms if you want to.
Q: Does this model have home mapping and room select?
A: Yes, the mapping feature is available and this offers the option to schedule a clean or select a specific room to clean.
Q: Can this vaccum be used on carpets too?
A: Yes, but not the type of carpets with long hair or very thick. Regular carpet it works so nice.
Q: Do you recommend buying the extended warranty?
A: We would like to let you know that this unit has a 1 year limited manufactures warranty. If an extended warranty is purchased on the unit at the time of purchase this would come into effect after the manufactures warranty has expired.
A: No... the mapping feature is unique to the same floor as the dock.
A: It comes with a BotBoundary strip that prevent the robot from navigating to areas that you don’t want it to, I am pretty sure that it can be used for that purpose.
A: It took me 3 long calls to Shark to get connected. Ask for advanced tech. Personnel are pleasant and helpful, but the audio quality is terrible. It will not map the house in one sweep. You have to enable recharge and resume - instructions tell you how, but you have to hunt for them in the booklet. Once you get connected, it will seem like forever, but just keep running it and it eventually figures it out - hopefully. Good luck.
