I ordered two physical Shell gift cards online to be shipped to my house. When I tried to use them at the gas station, one was declined because Best Buy failed to activate it before shipping. I had to spend an hour on the phone with customer service to fix a mistake that should never happen. It is incredibly inconvenient to be stuck at a pump with a card you’ve already paid for that doesn't work.

Be cautious there is a possibility that the gift card you bought might not be activated especially if you bought it online. I bought 4 cards all for myself, but noticed that the cards are all sealed perfectly while usually the clerk had do open up the bar code to scan when check out in store. So I test use them ASAP in gas station and found exactly as I suspected. Online chat was easy to request a new order of 4 cards but need in-store pickup, which I do prefer coz I can then check whether they are activated or not. However, this may not be easy for everyone. Just be cautious if you buy the cards to send friend as a gift. It may become a big embarrass for you.

I originally purchased two $50 Shell gift cards as part of the daily deal for $90. One card came loaded with the finds, the other didn't. I was super disappointed!
