Shogun, which was made in 1980, has faired well over time. It has great acting and the scenery is beautiful. This is a long movie, over 9 hours, but it is worth watching. In fact, watching it over again after a while is beneficial because many things that were seen the first time are more understandable. Too bad it was not made in wide-screen format.

I watched this series many years ago, and loved it. It is still a beautifully visual series, and it's timeless. I love the story and Richard Chamberlain is wonderful. I am very happy with this purchase and look forward to watching it many more times

This is very intriguing and entertaining work, It’s got some of the most daring and most epic work I’ve seen in a series.

It's been many years since I had watched Shogun, and since purchasing a 4K Sony player, I upgraded my copy of Shogun from DVD to Blu ray. The color, detail, and sound are perfect. A warning about the screen ratio: this was filmed for a 4:3 TV format and not the 16:4 widescreen, so unless your flat screen stretches the image, this will only fill 2/3s of the screen. This is not a defect in the blu ray, but rather the film was not made in a widescreen mode. This set also has great extra features which made me appreciate how the whole story was turned into film - good background. Now that I've seen this again, it will definitely be watched on a more frequent basis.

I had this series on DVD but it was stolen along with some others when i moved back in 08 and I finally got around to replacing/upgrading it to Blue Ray! Fantastic show! I have such a massive man crush on Richard Chamberlain it's sad! And this show, and the book it's based on, is the source of Japanophilia!

Being filmed on site in Japan, mostly using Japanese language and the casting of Toshiro Mifune, one of my all time favorite actors, make this a series I revisit every few years(along with the books) and it never fails to move me. Really happy they finally brought it back on blu ray!

I love this epic saga from James Clavell. Set in feudal Japan, Shogun is a political drama revolving around a Dutchman who lands in Japan. Richard Chamberlain and Toshiro Mifune are absolutely fantastic.

This 9hr. mini series has always been my favorite. I just wish they would have fitted to wide screen. Still great writing and acting.

I had previously purchased this movie on vhs tapes. Having it on DVD is great. The movie was very well done with great characters and wonderful scenery. The story will keep your interest throughout the three discs.

Really enjoyed the book, really enjoyed the miniseries. Had wanted to see this for years and decided to purchase it after hearing that they are doing a remake. It did not disappoint.

Looked for this classic to share with my son, and of course Best Buy had it at a great price. If you like action or drama or mini series or martial arts movies, this is a must see
