Shostakovich - Syms 1 & 15 - SUPER-AUDIO CD [Super Audio CD (SACD)]

The two InchChamber SymphoniesInch recorded here are in fact two of Dmitri Shostakovich's celebrated string quartets, orchestrated, with the composer's approval, by Rudolf Barshai, who as a member of the Borodin Quartet enjoyed a long collaboration with Shostakovich. A recurring element in Shostakovich's œuvre is the use of InchpopularInch music, such as themes reminiscent of the circus or cabaret and InchGypsyInch tunes. It is also well known that Shostakovich was acquainted with, and deeply attracted to, Jewish folk music, which he described as Inchalmost always laughter through tearsInch - a quality he found Inchclose to my ideas of what music should beInch. The disc is part of a project called Essential Music initiated by the re orchestra, a young and vibrant ensemble based in Rotterdam but with it's members active in some of Europe's foremost orchestras. Together with it's artistic director, the Mexican-Dutch conductor Roberto Beltran-Zavala, the ensemble regularly undertakes multidisciplinary projects attracting a rocketing audience of young people. For the present disc, the multi-instrumentalist Vasile Nedea, with a Romani background, has arranged a Russian klezmer dance, a group of folk melodies from Transylvania and Muntenia and two Romanian dances Turceasca and Hora de la Goicea.

Shostakovich / Gimeno - Dmitri Shostakovich Symphony No. 1, Scherzi, Theme & Variations [SUPER-AUDIO CD] Hybrid SACD date 05/05/2017

Both Shostakovich and Gulda were masters at blending the levels of art and light music in a profitable way. One discreetly and he almost refines through the back door, the other in the form of a provocative cultural shock in his role as a musical bourgeois terror. On his recording for Ars Produktion, Friedrich Kleinhapl unites works of the two 'opposing' geniuses. Friedrich Kleinhapl is immensely expressive and passionate. Worldwide, he entices the audience as well as critics as a soloist and as chamber musician with his noteworthy performances. He does many things in a new and different way starting with his posture holding the cello, and his interpretations to the thrilling way to tell the pieces' stories during the concerts and the individual arrangement of his programs and art projects. Additionally, he concerns himself in a heartfelt way with children with hearing impairment through his association InchGet a HearingInch.
