Minus the Bear is a product of the first two decades of this century. From their first show in 2001 to their impending dissolution at the end of 2018, the Seattle band thrived on the musical awakening in the era of the MP3, the internet, poptimism, and the crosspollinations generated from an expanded consciousness of new music forms. With their final EP, Fair Enough, Minus the Bear closes the book on their hybrid of art-rock, indie pop, and warehouse party appeal. Opener InchFair EnoughInch went through a variety of permutations before the band found new meaning in it's lyrical lament of lost passions and finding Inchthe exact moment we turned it off.Inch The other songs are a continuation and culmination of Minus the Bear's diverse sounds. The up-tempo drumbeats, rich electronics, and nimble guitar work that initially set them apart are on full display during InchViaduct.Inch InchDinosaurInch has the groove of early hits, but is crafted with the understated Steely Dan-eque delivery of their more current slow jams. Album Tracks 1. Fair Enough 2. Viaduct 3. Dinosaur 4. Invisible (Sombear Remix)

With a patient, eclectic openness to musical directions, Seattle guitarist Martin Budde steers his trio through a collection of mostly original compositions on his first Origin recording. Thoroughly rooted in the fluid, modern jazz guitar sounds of the last 50 years, the lone cover, Joni Mitchell's InchMy Old Man,Inch offers a hint to some early influences while playing Americana, country & folk music with his father in the backwoods of Alaska. Drummer Xavier Lecouturier and bassist Ben Feldman are his longtime collaborators in the more densely eclectic modern jazz sextet Meridian Odyssey, and here they collaborate beautifully on the space and sonorities of Budde's trio aesthetic. Even through the moments of modern angularity, or introspective passages tinged with melancholy, there's always a sense of uplift and openness in his music. More than just a stellar album, Back Burner is a declaration of arrival, as Budde sets his gaze on finding his own way forward. Album Tracks 1. Red 2. Back Burner 3. Companion 4. Eye to the Sky 5. My Old Man 6. Gee Bee Blues 7. Consensus 8. Eyak 9. Parker Peak
