About this product

The Planets is the most frequently performed piece of 20th century British music with immediate and lasting appeal. This high-profile live recording from 2006 was long overdue for the Berliner Philharmoniker who had not recorded The Planets since the legendary Karajan recording of 1981. Sir Simon Rattle had previously recorded another version of The Planets with the Philharmonia Orchestra, back in 1980, which was also hugely successful. Contrary to popular opinion The Planets is not a typically InchEnglishInch piece. Holst's eclectic musical world was inspired by his fascination with astrology (mythology and horoscopes), Sanskrit writings and his admiration for the works of his contemporaries - particularly Debussy, Stravinsky, Ravel and Scriabin. InchA magisterial performance, closely attentive to detail, in which the continental influences are highlighted as never before... The climax of 'Uranus' is a thriller a massive build-up, with the famous organ glissando not spotlighted but spreading a great cloud of atmospherics in it's wake. Rattle also makes the best case yet for Colin Matthews extra' planet 'Pluto'.Inch BBC Music Magazine Album Tracks 1. The Planets, Op. 32 I. Mars, the Bringer of War 2. The Planets, Op. 32 II. Various Artists - Shadows & Light - The Spirit Of Mozart (Various Artists) - VINYL LP

From the spirited wit of the Viennese stage to the quiet sanctuary of his most private sonatas, this collection captures the multifaceted genius of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Journey through the vibrant energy of The Marriage of Figaro, the ethereal dialogue of the Flute and Harp Concerto, and the heartbreaking solemnity of his final Requiem. Whether it is the playful charm of Papageno's aria or the sublime tranquility of the Piano Concerto No. 23, each track has been carefully curated to showcase a legacy that remains as vivid today as it was over two centuries ago.

Ensemble Labirinto Armonico - Boismortier: Sonatas, Op. 34 - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Joseph Bodin de Boismortier (1689-1755) was a prolific French composer of the Baroque era, known for his accessible and elegant music. He played a significant role in the development of chamber music in France and published music without the traditional patronage system, making him one of the first composers to live comfortably off music sales alone. His output includes operas, cantatas, concertos, and a wide range of instrumental works that were often geared toward amateur musicians and the expanding market of domestic music-making.Recorded here is the entire Op.34 of Boismortier's catalogue, consisting of a collection of six sonatas for 4 parts (three sopranos and basso continuo) published in Paris in 1731. The three soprano parts are completely equal to each other, while the performance practice of the time allows the interchangeability of instruments, so that they may be played by either the violin, the flute or the recorder. The sonatas are characterized by graceful melodies, rich harmonic textures, and conversational interplay between the two instruments. Each sonata typically follows a multi-movement structure, alternating between lively dance movements and expressive slow sections.Performed with grace and spirit by the Italian Ensemble Labirinto Armonico, featuring 3 violins, flute, viola da gamba, archlute and spinet. They play on period instruments. Album Tracks 1. 6 Sonates a Quatre Parties Op. 34~No. 1 in G minor I. Adagio 2. 6 Sonates a Quatre Parties Op. 34~No. 1 in G minor II. Presto 3. 6 Sonates a Quatre Parties Op. 34~No. 1 in G minor III. Adagio 4. 6 Sonates a Quatre Parties Op. 34~No. 1 in G minor IV. Allegro 5. 6 Sonates a Quatre Parties Op. 34~No. 2 in G I. Rafael Fingerlos - Mozart Made in Salzburg - VINYL LP

A special, connecting and autobiographical element for this recording is the beautiful city of Salzburg, a place steeped in legend and music history, which became the hometown of all those involved in the production - from the composer to the conductor, the soloist to the orchestra musicians and the orchestra director - at least for an important period of their lives; in the actual as well as in the artistic sense. In addition to well-known repertoire, Rafael Fingerlos' recording also offers delightful trouvailles such as the rarely performed aria of Allazim from Zaide InchNur mutig mein Herze! Inch, the little concert aria Un bacio di mano and even a veritable world premiere recording the so rarely performed and extremely Mozartian-daredevil cabaletta of the Conte Aria, comprising fourteen (!) high Gs, which Mozart composed especially for the Conte singer in the Viennese Figaro premiere. Beautiful, virtuosic, wild and spectacular. The following applies to this recording less is more. Less editing, always opting for natural and musical phrasing. And the aim is always to achieve a sound that is as close as possible to the live experience and that can also be reproduced in concert at any time. As authentic and above all as natural as possible.
