    Simzlife ice maker is the coolest looking machine

    The Simzlife ice maker is probably the coolest-looking machine that produces the coolest-looking ice pieces. The unit itself already looks almost "alienic" and is an attention-grabber by itself. But, of course, what matters even more is its product. Those large ice spheres draw the attention of our guests and often are "ice-breakers" and "conversation-starters". I must say it feels like they improve the taste perception of drinks, although that could be just a "placebo" thing. It is definitely a keeper.

    Don’t buy.

    Received with a HUGE crack on the back of the machine. Huge disappointment on Christmas morning. Would not recommend

    Good but be aware of a couple of issues

    Made ice quickly, but it does leak a bit more than the drip pan can hold - need to place it where you can clean spills if needed. I purchased knowing I'd have to find a place for it as it is too tall to fit under my kitchen cabinets, so be aware of that. Also, the ice spheres weren't totally solid and I found that the ice didn't last as long as ice spheres made with silicone molds.

  • Does it connect to a copper water line or do you have to fill it up?

    There is a reservoir under the ice bucket or you can connect it with a plastic line they provided. I would assume you can buy an adaptor to connect to an existing small copper line.

  • Are the ice balls clear ice or cloudy?

    Mine are very clear but I wouldn't say perfectly clear. 95% clear would be about right. Its very cool. I use Chicago tap water in mine.

  • Do any of these countertop sphere ice makers have a freezer storage built in to them or do they all have to have the sphere removed and stored in a freezer for later use?

    I guess you could always leave it on and as they melt new ones will be made. I save mine in a freezer storage ziploc.

  • HOW BIG ARE THE ICE BALLS?

    I believe the machine says 2 inch balls. I didn't measure mine, but they are very close to that size. I think the glass in the picture is small. It's still a cool item. I put 2 in my drinks I've made.
