Limited 180gm vinyl LP repressing. Band on the Run is the third studio album by Paul McCartney and Wings, released in December 1973. It marked the fifth album by Paul McCartney since his departure from the Beatles in April 1970. It's commercial performance was aided by two hit singles - InchJetInch and InchBand on the RunInch - such that it became the top-selling studio album of 1974 in the United Kingdom and Australia; in addition to revitalizing McCartney's critical standing. It remains McCartney's most successful album and the most celebrated of his post-Beatles works. The majority of Band on the Run was recorded at EMI's studio in Lagos, Nigeria, as McCartney wanted to make an album in an exotic locale. Shortly before departing for Lagos, however, drummer Denny Seiwell and guitarist Henry McCullough left the group; with no time to recruit replacements, McCartney went into the studio with just his wife Linda and Denny Laine, doubling on drums, percussion and most of the lead guitar parts himself as well as bass. Album Tracks 1. Band on the Run 5 11 2. Jet 4 08 3. Bluebird 3 22 4. Mrs Vandebilt 4 39 5. Let Me Roll It 4 49 1. Mamunia 4 51 2. No Words 2 35 3. Picasso's Last Words (Drink to Me) 5 49 4. Having commemorated their tenth anniversary with a year-plus run commencing with in Your Honor (a double album the New York Times called an Inchunexpected magnum opusInch), sold out rock arena shows and a toned down intimate theater trek, and a headlining gig at London's Hyde Park for a crowd of 85,000, the question looms larger than any in the Foo Fighters' career to date What do they do for an encore?!? the answer comes in the form of InchThe Pretender,Inch the first single from the band's sixth studio album Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, out on Roswell/RCA. Produced by Gil Norton, who last worked with the band on 1997's double-platinum the Colour and the Shape (recently reissued in deluxe 10th anniversary form), Dave Grohl, bassist Nate Mendel, drummer Taylor Hawkins and guitarist Chris Shiflett have crafted a 12-track milestone that showcases and reconciles the band's every strength and sensibility in the most complex and confident Foo Fighters album to date. Album Tracks 1. Pretender 2. Let It Die 3. Erase/Replace 4. Long Road to Ruin 5. Come Alive 6. Stranger Things Have Happened 7. Cheer Up, Boys (Your Make Up Is Running) 8. Summer's End 9.
