Slaughter Messiah - Exorcized To None - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

When it comes to the importance of groundbreaking rock and metal acts, Canada has always been criminally underrated-forever doomed to be overshadowed by it's mighty neighbor to the south. Just think of Anvil, true originators of speed metal, or Rush, who have served as a blueprint for progressive metal for over five decades. Toronto's Slaughter also deserves a place on this list. Formed in 1984, the trio of Dave Hewson (vocals, guitar), Terry Sadler (vocals, bass), and Ron Summers (drums) recorded their debut album Strappado three years later, in 1987. Today, Strappado is hailed as a groundbreaking record of raw thrash metal, sowing the seeds for the first wave of true American death metal. Songs like the lightning-fast title track InchStrappado,Inch the almost punky InchF.O.D. (F**k of Death),Inch and the no-holds-barred InchNocturnal HellInch make this an absolute landmark . Slaughter eventually broke up after becoming disillusioned with the workings of the music industry-a decision that speaks volumes about their integrity. Dave Hewson went on to form a new band called Strappado. In 1994, Slaughter briefly reunited to record a cover of Celtic Frost's InchDethroned EmperorInch before disappearing once more.

Two CD collection containing 48 tracks from the Joe Gibbs' stable of the 1970s, featuring a diversity of performer and musical styles. Includes significant Jamaican hits alongside almost forgotten rarities, with all but 15 recordings making their CD debut, many tracks unavailable on any since the early '70s with 33 tracks new to CD. As the '70s unfolded, producer Joe Gibbs continued his inexorable rise to the top of the island's musical tree. His willingness to try new talent and styles gave him an edge over many of his contemporaries, as reflected in the willingness of major artists to join his roster of acts.

DEVIL'S REEF brings forth the perfect mix of death and thrash metal with A Whisper From The Cosmos. This EP packs a load of grooves laden with shreddy guitars a la the old school stylings of DEATH, but with the more modern approach of bands like OBSCURA and REVOCATION.
