Snapped Ankles - Hard Times Furious Dancing - VINYL LP

Upheaval and change are themes spread throughout the songs on Printer's Devil, the latest Ratboys LP, out February 28, 2020 via Topshelf Records. A tangible sonic shift is apparent thanks to a newly-expanded lineup - founding members Julia Steiner and Dave Sagan are now joined by Marcus Nuccio and Sean Neumann on drums and bass. What started as an acoustic duo has finally transformed into a full-scale indie-rock band with a clear identity. Recorded live at Decade Music Studios in Chicago, Printer's Devil features big-chorus power pop songs like 'Alien with a Sleep Mask On' and 'Anj' that sound massive and larger than life, alongside intimate folk songs like 'A Vision' and devastating alt-country tracks like 'Listening, ' showcasing once again the group's signature versatility. Building off their previous albums - AOID (2015) and GN (2017) - Ratboys captures the bombastic, electrified fun of their live show in a bottle on Printer's Devil and showcasesAlien with a Sleep Mask OnLook ToMy Hands GrowA VisionAnjI Go Out at NightVictorian SlumhouseClever HansListeningPrinter's Devil

The second album from Snapped Ankles. From humble forest beginnings via bohemian East London on debut album Come Play The Trees, Snapped Ankles are moving on. The log synths have been transformed into gaudy InchTo LetInch and InchFor SaleInch signs, which have become the new instrument of choice for the discerning woodwose. The sounds they eke out of the housing bubble are as frenzied and unstable as you'd expect. Dystopian bangers. Illicit thrills. Stunning Luxury moves quickly through life in the capital microdosing mindfulness in the morning, a poisoned nod to the marketing department, investment portfolios and death by same day delivery. The primal rhythms and forest chants are all present and correct. On the surface it's hedonistic business as usual - a communal dance for the ages. But there's a sense of discomfort too. There's subversion, but it's not clear who's subverting who. There's a message, but it's often fragmented. Keep dancing. Perhaps the woodwose are human after all...A1. Pestisound (Moving Out)A2. Ferdinand Ries occupies a remarkable place in the history of music. He was famously a friend and pupil of Beethoven and a virtuoso pianist. His extensive oeuvre opened up the musical aesthetics of Viennese Classicism to Romanticism. Completed in 1826, the Piano Trio in C minor, Op. 143 features two lively, fast movements surrounding a poetic Adagio, reminiscent of the era's finest opera arias. Very differentis the Grand Trio in F minor, WoO 86. It features four thematically interwoven movements that traverse emotions from despair to passion and eventual peace.
