Sons of the Never Wrong - One If By Hand - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The Once - The Once. [COMPACT DISCS] date 09/28/2010

Newfoundland has a storied history of stunning songwriters, and over the course of the last decade, The Once have become a big part of that story. They launched their career covering and reinventing the songs of celebrated songwriters, and with the of their last few albums, they've become celebrated songwriters in their own right. The Once is named after a local idiom meaning, Inchwe'll be right there,Inchand they've gotten 'thereInch in every sense of the word, having toured across Canada, The US, Europe, and Australia. On their latest album, InchTime EnoughInch the band stays true to the strength of their 3-part folk harmony sound, while extending it's borders into new territory that stays fresh but sounds familiar. They've crafted a sonically understated, but emotionally fulsome sound that does what they've always done so well stun us with what Amelia Curran calls Inchperfect vocal harmonies, thick enough to stand on.Inch

Barney Bentall and Geoffrey Kelly are Ranchwriters. Barney Bentall is loved globally for his band the Legendary Hearts, that over ten years in the 80s and 90s had more than nine hit singles, won Juno Awards and achieved platinum status for multiple albums. He went on to acclaimed albums as a solo artist, and more lately has been a part of the bluegrass-influenced folk band The High Bar Gang. Geoffrey Kelly has five gold and three platinum albums as one of the primary songwriters in Spirit of the West, leaders of the absolutely Canadian folk-rock sound of the 90s. One of Canada's finest Celtic musicians, he has most recently been seen performing with the Irish Rovers and as one of the Paperboys, known for songs that blend Celtic folk with bluegrass and world music influences. This 12-track instrumental album ranges from acoustic Americana to Traditional Folk to instrumental New-Grass in genre, described by Ranchwriters as InchCinematic Canadiana.Inch Ultimately, it's two great musicians passing time the best way they know how.
