As a hobbyist who held onto my a6000 for years before finally pulling the trigger on the a6700, here is my honest take. The TL;DR The a6000 is still capable, but the a6700 feels like cheating. You don't realize how much you were fighting the old camera until you try the new one. The "Oh Wow" Upgrades **1. The Autofocus is actually witchcraft** On my a6000, I was used to the "focus and recompose" dance, or hoping the green box actually found the face and not the tree behind it. The a6700 just... knows. * **Real world difference:** I take pictures of my dog. On the a6000, I’d get maybe 1 sharp shot out of 10 when he was running. On the a6700, I can literally see the little box stick to his eye while he's sprinting at me. It’s sticky in a way that makes you feel like a better photographer than you actually are. **2. The Battery Life (Finally!)** The old NP-FW50 batteries on the a6000 were a joke. I used to carry three in my pocket just to survive a day trip. The a6700 uses the bigger Z-battery (same as the full-frame cameras). I went out for a full day of shooting recently, took hundreds of photos and some 4K video, and came home with 40% battery left. Some people love this for video/vlogging. Personally, for street photography, I actually preferred the simple tilt of the a6000 because it was faster to just look down at your waist. The flip-out screen feels a bit more fragile and noticeable. * *Menu System:** It is *miles* better than the disaster menu on the a6000, but it’s still a Sony menu. There is a lot of stuff in there you will never touch. However, the touchscreen actually works for menus now, which is a lifesaver. Is it worth the money? If you just shoot landscapes or still subjects on a tripod, the a6000 image quality is actually still pretty close to this. You might not see a $1,400 difference in the final JPG. **But...** if you shoot anything that moves (kids, pets, street, sports), the upgrade is massive. It removes the frustration of "missing the moment" because the camera couldn't keep up. **Verdict:** It’s the first time in years I’ve been excited to just pick up the camera and go for a walk. Over a year ago, I wanted to get into photography and for months I was researching on what camera to buy and came across the Sony A6700 camera body which was newly released July 2023, I made my purchase on June 2024. I skipped the beginner camera phase because I wanted something hybrid and where in 10 years from now this will still be a great camera and hold some value, Sony makes great products especially cameras. Its packed with so many great features and I'm still learning about. I mostly use it for photography and paired with a good lens it takes beautiful photos! I would recommend this to anyone wanting to get into photography or videography

I’m not a professional photographer or filmmaker—just someone who loves capturing moments and recently decided to level up from a phone camera. After a ton of research (and a little nervous excitement), I chose the Sony a6700 as my first “serious” camera. The image quality is stunning. My photos are sharp, colors pop, and they actually look like something out of a magazine (no exaggeration!). I love taking portraits, and with this camera. It’s also really lightweight and easy to carry, Honestly, the Sony a6700 makes me excited to photograph.

This is my firsr serious photo/video gear and I must say: I am impressed. Not only is highly portable but pack with all the latest tech you can ever ask for in a digital hybrid camera. These were the specific points that made me choose this over the ZV E10 II: 1- mechanical and digital shutter, 2- AI tracking, 3- Weather-sealed body and 4- IBIS. That’s it. If you are not convinced by now I don’t know what would. Just, go for it, this camera is already future-proof.

camera so far has been fantastic. i use it for bird photography. started with the 70-350, now using the 200-600. auto focus is fast and accurate, and the photos are sharp. after owning it for a few months I did have an issue with my viewfinder and touchscreen, they completely stopped working. a connection in the camera came loose, but it was under warranty and Sony fixed it quickly, and at no charge. had it back after a little more than a week. no regrets buying this.

So far I l’ve been enjoy this camera before I purchased this a6700 I’ve been using the Sony a6500 most definitely feels like a upgrade still a few thing I have to adjust too like new settings layout (which is great ) and picture profile features that are slightly different from what I usually use on my previous model. Battery life is amazing I usually go through multiple with this one I haven’t had to change the battery during one job ( about 4 hrs) Only 1 actual issue I had with this model I tried plugging up one of my gimbals ( zhiyun Weebill Lab ) type-c to type-c which was necessary to pair with camera and all of the sudden my camera display appeared a red screen with error code and lost all functionality couldn’t even power off the a6700 without taking the battery out ended having to return it to Best Buy and order a new one I haven’t even had the camera a whole month I did add the two year geek squad protection so that came in handy only thing is I would have to repay to add protection on the exchange however be sure to do research if you plan on hooking the a6700 to a gimbal that requires you to physically plug it up to make sure they’re compatible. My (zhiyun weebill s )worked fine other then that I’m still willing to give this a6700 another shot make sure to add your geek squad protection guys.

I have recorded for 5+ hours 1080p and this thing has never once over heated on me. I LOVE how the batteries on this thing last like 3+ hours. The video quality is EXTREMELY CRISP and my friends gave me a ton of compliments because of how beautiful it (the footage) looks. It's also pretty light to carry around and film. The only downside is that the camera flips out on the right (for vlogging I prefer it to flip from the top) but that's a very minor issue. Sony A6000 series cameras are absolutely BEASTS.

I purchased a Sony a6000 roughly 6 years ago for its small form factor. I wanted a camera that was super easy to carry so I'd always take it with me where ever I would go, and I did. It made me fall in love with photography again and use my camera a lot. So, when the a6700 came available, the upgrade just made sense, even at the price. Having the same form factor (slightly bigger in good ways), gave me the comfort of knowing I wasn't buying something that would sit on the shelf. Having all the bells and whistles on a new camera is great, but worthless if it was too cumbersome to walk out the door with it. So if you're new to the a6000 line of cameras, you'll see similar reviews on these small package, high quality cameras being so great for traveling. The second reason for the upgrade can be easily summarized by the crazy amount of new features this camera offers for photography and videography that used to only be found of Full Frame higher end cameras. The one in particular to me was the insane speed and accuracy of the Auto Focus capabilities. You can chose your subject in the menu for added accuracy and get locked on to your subject or subject's eye, and keep it there for multiple shots. I'm still blown away at how easy this camera is to use and the details I can capture with it. If you are new to Sony Alpha Cameras, then another big plus, is the lens options. From the APS-C to the Full Frame lenses, they all use the same E-Mount for lens connection, meaning you can invest in lenses that are universal in the Sony Alpha line, should you buy another camera or upgrade within the line, like me. I will continue to use both cameras for many years but have comfort in knowing that if I ever decide to upgrade again, the money I've spent on lenses won't be lost. (There are differences in APS-C and Full Frame lenses in how they function on different bodies, so do the research before you buy to get the best use out of the lens. It’s ideal to use APS-C on APS-C bodies, same with full frame, but it is capable enough to call them universal) I've added pics below that I've taken with various APS-C lenses, which all take advantage of Sony's insane auto focus capabilities. The photos and videos on this camera have been very worth the upgrade from my a6000. As a car photographer I’ve also moved to video work, and this camera is perfect for me. It shoots up to 4k120 with the proper SD Card. It only has one SD slot and no CFExpress slots if that’s an issue, personally I haven’t used a camera with CFExpress cards so it’s not an issue. File transfer can be done straight from a USB-C cable, don’t even need to use a card adapter. The camera works awesome with my phone and I really have no complaints after a few weeks of use so far. Excited to use it more and really test it! I’ve heard complaints about overheating but i honestly haven’t noticed the camera get warm. It has handled great.

Excellent for street videography with fast Autofocus. Doesn’t have the filter selection of fujifilm but with some colorgrading knowledge you can get insanely good photos. It is also weather proof with appropriate lenses. I went with Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 lens which has OIS and is weather proof and use Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 to daily drive.

Amazing camera, honestly more than I need but wow! If you record a lot of 4K video I would recommend the ulanzi cooler but it really does everything if you have that...
