These sound great. Good bass, great highs, great mids, just overall great. I would make the base removable for wall mounting capability’s but that’s just me. I love these. Sony has came a long way

Not compatible with all stereo receiver amplifiers

I wanted some Sony speakers. My preference is stereo 2 channels driven. These SS-CS3M2 which are made in Vietnam are a revision of the SSCS3 which were made in Malaysia. I purchased a pair of the SSCS3 last yr. They were not compatible with my 120W receiver amplifier set at 6 ohms. So I returned them. I am not a fan of 5 inch driver 6 ohm speakers with oxygen free copper clad aluminum wire. The days of the 3 ways with the 8 inch drivers is over. So to safe harbor. I had my doubts. It was a no brainer. Found a open box STR-DH190 for $125. So with 2 channels driven approx 100 W 6 ohms find inaudible distortion. Which is exactly what I am after. This Sony stereo system sounds closer to 80 W instead of 100 W. The sound quality is excellent through all the frequencies. There is a limitation of bass that can be produced by a two 5 inch drivers and the speaker cabinet. The engineering is impressive for the bass output. Which can be expected. The speakers are compact. Perfect for a small apartment. I have this Sony system in a small bedroom. The neighbors are probably not going to complain. So these speakers matched with the STR-DH190 makes a decent stereo system for about $800.

been wanting to purchase a speaker, when I saw the price and that it was a Sony, I was impressed, hooked it up to my stereo system within two minutes and the sound is amazing, so much so that I purchased a second one I would definitely recommend

Regarding the stereo experience, it is important to note that because this is a single floor-standing speaker, "Stereo" sound (the separation of left and right audio channels) is dependent on having a second speaker and the specific settings on your receiver.
To experience true stereo, we recommend ensuring your receiver is set to a two-channel mode and that you have a matching pair of speakers positioned to create that balanced soundstage. This setup allows the rich, wide acoustics of the SS-CS5M2 to truly fill the room.

If you are a true audiophile and listen to music 24 hours a day, these speakers are not for you. These are great for the occasional listener that likes good sound. That would be me.
