I did a LOT of comparison of various bridging model cameras like the Sony RX10 on-line and in store of similar type ( Nikon, Lumix, etc ) cameras. This one is great and the pictures are fantastic. Over the years, I have purchased a lot of nice higher end point & shoot smaller size cameras with the best and longest lens possible for shooting wildlife and international travel due the size and convenience Mostly of them were either Panasonic Lumix or Sony DSC zoom cameras. The pictures were good but there was always issues with lighting and action of wildlife in lower light settings and grainy at full zoom when I cropped and enlarged the pictures. I decided I would make the jump from the $350 - $500 smaller size compact zoom lens point & shoot cameras to this Sony Cyber shot RX10. I have had this camera about a month and am still learning about all the features. It doesn't come with a manual but can be accessed and downloaded from online locations. I downloaded and printed the fist 100 pages (of the comprehensive 596 total page document) to start understanding the camera better and the features . Since getting the camera, I have shot a lot of wildlife (mostly birds) experimenting with both with the auto focus and manual focus features of the RX10 IV and the zoom. I also photographed a lot of people and events inside and outside, with and without the flash, in the daylight and at night time. It has a cool feature on it I discovered by accident, but read up on it afterwards that as I was shooting a few short videos, I was able to take still photos as well at the same time as shooting the video. I am enjoying this camera so much, every day I want to get out and shoot more pics and experiment and learn more of the features. The pictures and videos have turned out great. The ones inside at an event dance were wonderful and I have never had indoor flash or otherwise pics turn out so good, with such clarity and in low light. The detail on birds and wildlife is very impressive, both inflight and in the trees. The first weekend I was shooting I was very impressed with the quality and clarity of the zoom at 600 max, shooting a couple doves on a branch about 100 yrds away about 30 feet in the air. When I downloaded the pictures and zoomed in and cropped the pictures. took some of the shadows out of the picture, the clarity was wonderful at that range. For comparison.... I went through some of my picture files to show the difference in picture quality. *The first two pictures ( woodpeckers) were shot with my old point & shoot Sony DCS-DCSHX80 30X point & shoot at full zoom. *The last two were shot with my new Sony Cyber shot RX10 IV at about the same distance as the first two pictures and very similar lighting. Enlarge these and see the comparison of detail. IF you are considering the jump in $$ from your high quality point & shoot zoom to a bridging camera with a great zoom lens range, and quality lens, I highly recommend this camera. You will be glad you made the upgrade! This is only the 2nd review of any product I have purchased and written a review about in my life. I am VERY impressed and glad I purchased the camera!

This Sony Digital Camera defies everything we have learned about DSLRs. First, a 24-600mm lens with maximum resolution & clarity is impossible. Until now. The onboard Carl Zeiss lens (Ultra high end German lens maker) delivers all of this. Sony electronics are recognized as exceptional. The Sony image stabilization actually makes hand holding at 600mm images solid as a rock! This is absolutely unheard of!! There's more: Fast action. Solid construction. RAW capability. 4K Video, as well as 1080P. Long lasting battery. Wireless transfer photos to your cellphone. See attached photo of gorilla captured with the Sony RX10 IV. I cannot recommend this masterpiece of engineering any higher! This is as good as it gets!

having arthritis I had to trade my heavy Canon gear & 70-200 2.8 for something lightweight. This camera has three times the reach 600mm, tack sharp, faster focus and one third lighter. I love this camera

I have shot DSLRs and ILCs for years, but have also sought out long zoom all in ones for travel and quick shots. Most have been disappointing, with either good quality but short zooms or long zooms but low iq, until I tried the Sony. It takes phenomenal pictures at both ends and is a joy to use. My Fuji XT2 is jealous since I rarely shoot with her anymore.

I upgraded to the RX10 iv from the model iii prior to a photography trip to Costa Rica and am very glad I did. Autofocusing was noticeably faster than the previous model. I came home with great shots of birds in motion as well as macro shots of tiny frogs and telephoto shots of far off animals. I was the only Sony camera user among the group of Canon and Nikon DSLR afficionados and feel that my camera performed as well, if not better than the most of the others. And without the hassle of hauling extra lenses. The Model iii is an excellent camera but upgrading to the iv was worth it to me for the quicker autofocus.

Camera has a real good hand grip for your right hand. Auto focus is fast, pictures turn out sharp. That 600mm lens comes in handy! A lot of times subjects change & you just don’t have time to change lenses. RX10 Mark 4 is my only camera. I take photos of sunsets, Deer & at Church to mention a few. This camera is really not that heavy for a 600mm lens. I’m not a professional, just an advanced amateur. Very happy with this camera!

This camera has exceeded my expectations, the auto focus is very fast and accurate. Image quality is better then expected for a small sensor with long focal length. between the auto focus and image quality this is a better choice than other cameras with more focal length!

This is a professional quality camera with two major benefits not seen in any of its competitor products: 1) it has Sony's best autofocus system and 2) it has the longest zoom range of any camera of this type except for one model from Nikon which is inferior in every respect. 1. Autofocus. You will want to use the "center lock-on AF" option whenever you have a moving subject. This causes the camera to dynamically focus on your intended object even if it moves in the frame and even if it temporarily moves OUT of the frame and then back in. If you are trying to photograph moving objects (children, animals) this feature is a game-changer. It even works BOTH for movies and still shots. No camera manufacturer has autofocus as good as Sony. This camera can focus in 0.03 seconds without the "hunting" seen in contrast-detection autofocus systems. 2. The lens. This lens is nothing short of spectacular. You can get reasonable wide angle shots and stunning telephoto shots without changing lenses. The goal of all photography is to "get the shot" which is more difficult if you have to fumble to change the lens when you need either a wider or more telephoto shot. You don't need to do that with this camera due to the incredible lens range. This lens is also tack sharp at all focal lengths. To get comparable-quality lenses for an interchangeable lens camera you would have to spend at least $2000 for each of at least 2 lenses! Some have suggested that the sensor on this camera is too small for low light work. I can tell you I sold a micro 4/3 camera which a sensor about twice as large as the 1 inch sensor in this camera, and this camera takes better pictures, including in low light. The price is high on this camera; no other camera manufacturer makes a "point and shoot" camera this expensive, but as in all other areas in life, you get what you pay for. This is the kind of camera one would want to buy and use for literally everything for years. I couldn't be happier with it.

At age 77, dragging around a DSLR camera with a heavy 100-400mm lens (for wildlife photography) was getting to be too much. The RX10iv solved this problem and I'm back to getting great bird shots - that 600mm equivalent reach is really nice.. This will also be a super travel camera, once we get past this virus problem. Looking forward to that. Overall, I am very pleased with this camera and the excellent results it produces.

This definitely the best in the market. Very easy to carry and takes high quality photos. I took wonderful photos during my multi country travel in Africa, Europe, Asia and Middle East. With the multiple options in the camera settings and picture quality - I took beautiful photos of various wild animal in Africa, beautiful landscapes of Sahara desert and world wonders sites such as Pyramids, Petra and many many more.

This is an all in one camera that gets the job done. Great all around camera. It easy to use and great for travel.

The RX10 IV is one heck of a camera. It's not cheap, but having that much zoom and that much clarity (thanks to the Zeiss lens) packed into a small package that you can carry on hikes is worth the money. Instead of paying $1699 for a new one, I got a refurbished one from Best Buy for $1250, and put a two year warranty on it, and still only had $1450 wrapped up in it. And don't have to worry about drops, spills, etc. The HDR mode is really impressive too. The pics come out VERY real looking, and without having to go thru all the steps of blending the three pics with software, etc. I love how it's weather and dust resistant. There really is no reason to lug around a heavy and bulky DSLR camera and multiple lenses with you. That gets heavy, and I am not a fan of changing lenses in the field. I had a D750 with a 28-300mm lens, and although it was a great camera, this just makes life so much easier. I'll post a few pics I took already with it. Just for the reference, the moon shot was handheld. No tripod. The image stabilization really works well. Amazing...

I have read a number of reviews and mulled over the decision to get this camera and have not been disappointed(with one exception). First the good. Fast and I mean fast sports mode at 24 fps Fast zoom and it can go all the way to 2400mm digital zoom but some quality is lost doing that. Excellent quality slow mo and 4k video. Good low light quality and anti-shake. My only complaint would be that in HFR mode(slo mo) i can not zoom in and the amount of time it can record is limited. Good bokeh also. Overall i am very happy with the purchase.

This is the best camera I have ever owned. I am an original bridge camera guy and I started shooting the Panasonic Fz-200, then I went to the 300. . These camera’s were great but I bought this one after reading 9000 reviews and it works the best. I bought a book to help me as I continue to take fantastic photos and just getting into the video end of it, but I will say that nothing. Ones close to this camera unless you want to spend $ 5000.00 and still change a lot of glass!

Had an upcoming trip with the grandkids and did not want to be carrying a full size backpack with for my camera and lenses as I usually do. So I began checking and researching cameras that would best fulfill my needs. This Sony, (I shoot Canon), ticked almost all the boxes for me. Had a couple of days to play with it and learn the menus, (ouch), and functions before the trip. It would be helpful if there were more functions or controls on the body so you would not have to go into the menus for some of the basics. Lighted shooting for photos and video was sharp and accurate and as expected darker situations were more challenging but you learn to compensate and accept what it can do and can’t, had my share of grainy ones. And don’t expect much out of the on camera flash, had a few shots with a nice lens shadow, was able to crop it out. Better to invest in a decent mountable flash. I am very happy with what this camera could do and it’s a lot easier packing and traveling. Being a Total Tech member at Best Buy, I could have returned it if I was not satisfied, but decided to keep and use it for my upcoming trips. If Sony makes an updated version that addresses a couple of the shortcomings, (sensor size, controls), I would probably purchase it. Expensive, but for my purposes, worth it.

Either I got a lemon or I am just not smart enough to learn this camera. And I've been shooting with a 'bridge' camera Sony Dsc HX400V for over 2 years. $499. at Best Buy. I love it, and would recommend it for a beginner to intermediate. It has 100x zoom the same as this RX 10 IV is supposed to be. But it's much lighter and easier to use. I read many tutorials on you tube about this RX 10 IV and still didn't understand all the menu functions of this camera. I did not get clear photos 9 out of 10 shots. I could not get birds flying as I would zoom to the bird and then it would zoom out to oblivion. I put the dial in front to C, A, S. I put my mode on top to A P or S trying to get shots other than just auto. I auto locked the focus and it wouldn't lock. I changed the metering. I changed the ISO. Nothing I did got me a great shot. I took a photo of a bird on a country barb wire fence. I was just across the dirt road. I got the shot, pushed the shutter button down to take another and it was totally out of focus, I had to bring the camera zoom back in and then zoom out a little again to get it back in focus, You can't take that much time when trying to get wildlife especially birds. yes I could've had it on multi photo but I only wanted two pics of it, not 10 or 12. I watched a tutorial on how to shoot birds and his camera was the same model as this camera but his menu had more metering choices and no one talked about the PP mode only to say never touch it. (then why is it there?) Both this and my old sony does not do the best in low light shots but my old sony does far better in the sun and it has fast frames per second as this RX 10 does too, but those FPS doesn't matter on the RX 10 IV if the shots are out of focus or not clear. This RX10 IV did lousy on cloudy days and low light, again perhaps I just don't know what setting to use but even in Auto and Auto white balance they were not good. I also didn't quite understand wide angle so anyone else that doesn't know let me explain it the way I saw my pics. I pointed my camera at wild turkeys in a field. I got the entire field (wide angle) so I had to zoom all the way to get the turkeys, the more I zoomed the blurrier the turkeys became. Or like the photos I will attach of fountains, I got the bushes right in front and side of me but the fountain was way off. I had to walk closer to the fountain and then zoom to get it. I hope that made sense. There's too many different modes, dials and so forth to just be a 'point and shoot' . I would call this an advanced bridge camera. I have a friend with this camera, she's a DSLR user and she agreed this camera takes a long time to learn and it's not easy, To get a good photo she said don't use the zoom all the way if at all, just optical and then crop your photos. She uses her expensive DSLR for long zoom photos. Well I don't edit my photos and I take a lot of them so I don't want to spend all day on the computer cropping them. Oh and if you get this camera get a 2nd battery and charger or you will be waiting 2 1/2 hours for your battery to charge in your camera. And don't put your photos on large in the settings or you will only get about 250 shots out of the battery. It also is a little heavy since it has a long lens, it's 2 lbs not bad for a Dslr user but a lot more than a point and shoot person is used to. I'm going to post photos I took the last week blurry cows wide angle fountain and zoomed fountain, and then I will post a photo with my sony HX400v it's the one with the gnome and tulips, just to show you that just because it costs more money doesn't always make it a better camera.

I purchased the RX10 for a travel camera so that I did not need to haul my long lens on the airplane. The 600m equivalent was important to me and I was not disappointed.

As a 1 inch cmos digital camera it surprised me! Yes comparing to other 1 in cmos cameras it’s not cheap but it captures stunning pics! I have been waiting for

I read lots of reviews before buying this camera. I used it during a 2 week trip to Alaska. I mostly used the auto setting and got many great pictures.
