Really nice priced macro lens from Sony. Performance was similar to a macro lens I used to have with my Canon DSLR. Don't expect fast focus, but image quality compensates for that. I am using it with an A6300 which is a camera with APS-C sensor

I bought this lens to complete my a6400 kit. I love macro photography and this lens is excellent for that purpose. Combined with the 70-350 lens my a6400 kit allows me to shoot subjects near and farther away with excellent results. The photos below are samples of the 70-350 lens and then the 50 mm macro lens.

I love this lens I get some awesome shots with it. I use it with my Sony A7ii and they work so well. I’m a landscape/macro art photographer and this lens gets me my money shot every time. These are a couple of the photos I’ve taken with this lens.

I got this lens to compliment my 90mm G lens. It's light and smal. It fits nicely on my a6500 and is able to get beautiful close up shots. The image quality is fantastic! A great starter macro lens for someone who wants a small sharp lens who might go to full frame someday.

This lens really helped me get into macro photography. It's not too expensive and delivers great photos. Obviously with any macro lens, the autofocus is very slow, but this lens is very loud as well. And at 50mm you have to get right up to your subject to shoot at 1:1. this website won't do the photos justice though.

Beautiful lens! It took me some time to figure out the best lens for my photography needs, and I finally stumbled upon this beauty of a lens. I needed up close detail shots, flatlay shots, and I also needed to use the lens to film my online tutorials. It does all three perfectly, with that gorgeous depth of field blur when needed.

Sony lenses are fantastic. I little expensive but really work well with Sony mirrorless cameras. The FE 50mm f/2.8 is light, takes great photos and easy to use.

This lens has it's drawbacks with a slow and noisy autofocus but I chose this model over the more expensive 90mm because of it's lighter weight. I do nature photography and for most nature photographers this means hiking. Hiking means lighter equipment so you have the energy to do photography when you get there. This mean lighter tripods which require lighter weight equipment to go on them. Some will complain about the "cheap feeling" plastic body for for someone trying to keep the weight of their backpack down, the lighter weight of plastic is a plus.

Great for portraits and close-ups. Use if for both video and photo on my Sony A6000. Wish they had a 90mm or 100mm macro available for crop mirrorless cameras.

Easy to mount, easy to use. Takes great pics even without a tripod or stabilizer.

Great lightweight macro lens. The pictures (and movies) created with lens are exactly what I was needing. The lens is extremely noisy when it attempts to auto focus.

Lens is good at auto focus so long as you give it time. Still having issues in manual focus. I seems to have extreme difficulty getting it to focus at all but i'm sure its user error.

Overall I am happy about this lens. A bit slow on focus but quality is very good - even better considering price. If I like macro work I would consider a bit longer lens

Good lens for close-up shots. I highly recommend it.

Did not work for copying Negatives to Digital images as the lens is too short for the devices needed to perform the copy operation. I did not use it to make macros images of anything other than the copy of Negatives to digital for archiving.

I was advised that this lens fit my camera however after mounting it on my camera aSony A7II E mount full frame. It was obvious this lens wasn’t a dedicated full frame lens instead it is designed for a Sony APS-C format and my camera had automatically adapted to the smaller format.
