Unleashes the HTA7000 with clear and powerful bass

I have the HTA7000 Soundbar and it is excellent overall as standalone. Adding this subwoofer releases the Soundbar from performing bass duties and delegates that to the Soundbar. The Soundbar will now allow more subwoofer audio levels going from only 3, to more than 10. This allows the Soundbar to provide the cleanest audio along with bass. Without the subwoofer the Soundbar can produce decent bass at the cost of introducing muddiness when cranking the bass levels to high. The addition of this subwoofer the muddiness goes away. The audio from the subwoofer is excellent. It provides deep bass that fills the room. I placed the subwoofer next to my couch, basically on the opposite side of the TV and Soundbar wall. I was worried about this not being optimal placement but it worked well. The room fills with powerful bass. The subwoofer box has excellent build quality with sof touch materials all around. There is a front firing and also a downfiring driver. It only uses 43w of electricity and automatically connected with the Soundbar when plugged in. It is about 12 feet away from the Soundbar and there have not been any wireless connection issues. If you don't have a preference for a TV I would highly recommend pairing up the Sony Soundbar with a new bravia TV because the TV remote can fully control the Soundbar and there will be no requirement to have multiple remotes. The Soundbar, sub, and rear surrounds turn off and enter standby mode when the TV is turned off and they turn on she the TV is turned on. It is great that the sony ecosystem fully integrates itself with Soundbar options available on the TV's quick menu system.

Deep, Punchy Bass That Perfectly Complements Sony

I recently added the Sony SA-SW5 300 W Subwoofer to my home entertainment setup featuring the Sony BRAVIA 8 II 65-inch TV and the Sony QUAD sound system, and it has made a tremendous difference in overall audio immersion. The 300 W output delivers powerful, deep low frequencies that are tight and articulate, without muddiness—even at higher volumes. Excellent bass response at low and high volumes. When added to the sound bar and rear speakers it will have you hearing sound from all directions. Easily connects to Sony sound bar with Bluetooth.

Good but Pricey

I haven't really noticed a difference coming from my Samsung Subwoofer. It connects wirelessly and sets up though the Bravia app. Make sure to do your sound test to get everything set up correctly. It turns off and on automatically with your TV and soundbar or stereo equipment. Very expensive.

Thumping, clean bass

Paired this with my HT-a7000 sound bar and RS5 surround speakers. This sub is a beast. I have it set to less than half the max output and it sounds great. If I didnt live in a townhouse with shared walls I'd probably have it cranked up higher. Its a little pricey, i got a really good deal on it when bundled with my whole system though. If you can get it at a discount, donit. You wont be disappointed with its performance!

Subwoofer/Rear sound very low even in max setting

Got both SA-SW5 ($388+tax) and HT-A700 from openbox, setup is easy. Subwoofer detected and connected automatically, unfortunately subwoofer had only cracking sound .. probably damaged speaker inside. returned and got SA-SW3 ($202+tax) openbox. It also easy setup, worked fine, but not loud enough, bass sound very low, hard to notice difference with bass and w/o bass. Got the rear speakers too SA-RS3S ( $198+tax) . Only way I can tell rear speakers works if I hold speakers next my ear like headphone ;( . One thing noticed both SA-SW3 and SA-RS3S works fine loud during sound optimization. am I missing any setup ? Increased the volume of both bass and surround to max . No difference . I have 4-star just because of the built quality of the soundbar HT-A7000 and the connectivity. Another worst thing is there is no mobile app to control the settings of soundbar , subwoofer, surround etc. Looks like Sony has Bravia Connect app thats works only new soundbar 8 and 9. not compatible with HT-A7000. This soundbar HT-A7000 is nothing less than a standalone AV receiver. I wish I could connect to my existing wired subwoofer and speakers to it.

This is an incredible subwoofer and has all the power you’ll ever need. This subwoofer truly has room shaking sound. The life and cinematic feel that it gives is amazing when you watch movies. I love how it syncs with the sound bar A7000. You can adjust the bass level as well. If you crank it all the way up it’s like wow it’s almost too much. You must buy this subwoofer if you truly want that cinema field to the movies. Good bass is a must.

Still a satisfied customer

purchased the Sony Bravia Theater Quad along with the SA-SW5 the sub hits hard for its size, anything more requires a larger dedicated speaker. I read reviews some great and some not so great. I will give you my honest opinion. Its awesome, I paired it with the 85" Sony Bravia 9. I use the TV as a center channel and the dialect is extremely clear. My ceilings are 8' tall and when Sony made the claim they are bringing Theater home its true. If you want the middle ground in audio file home theater then they over deliver. I was fortunate enough to pickup the speakers from best buy on sale and saved $800.00 shopping during the holidays and signing up for the best buy perks. I recommend this system if you can get a good deal on it. Oh i almost forgot the system works without drop outs and high fidelity music from Tidal sounds better than the reviews I read in my opinion. You wont be disappointed if space and minimal footprint is a factor.

Plug and play bass

Easy as plugging in. Matched with new Sony A7000 soundbar. Good heavy bass. It’s a wireless soundbar and connects automatically with Sony soundbar. Literally nothing else to do. Put sub anywhere in room, just plug into outlet for power. Sounds great. It is pretty expensive tho—there are cheaper options but if you want seamless integration with Sony Bravia tv/soundbar/sub, this is the one!

Great bass

I purchased the sub-woofer to free up the soundbar from trying to produce low end and thus the soundbar's clarity really shines now. It's pricey so went for an open box a saved 1/2 the cost. I read some complaints about its size and weight, but I find it's not too big or heavy and blends right in with my audio system. I stacked my guitar speakers on the subwoofer. The sub is not near my TV but as bass is not directional it works well anywhere in the room.

This Sony subwoofer rocks!
I put this behind the chair I sit in to watch tv so I can feel the bass as well as hear it. I have a Sony soundbar and rear speakers, but there was not quite enough bass for my liking. I am very glad I bought this subwoofer because it has doubled the fidelity of my sound system.

Quad/SW5 Disappointing for the asking price

I bought this sub with the Sony theater Quad(which doesn't get very loud)& the quad with this sub is just a "good" experience & for the price I feel it should be amazing! The overall setup was simply just good, nothing more nothing less compared to a system like Samsung q990d/f or Sonos arc ultra ultimate immersive setup which sounds great to amazing.

To help improve your experience, we recommend the following steps:
1. Sound Field Optimization: Please ensure that the Sound Field Optimization process has been completed. This calibration adjusts the system according to your room acoustics and speaker placement, enhancing sound quality.
2. Audio Modes: Verify that you are using an audio mode that fully engages the 360 Spatial Sound Mapping, and try adjusting the Immersive Audio Enhancement (AE) setting to optimize the surround effect.

Ease of setup with everything in Sony line up. Clear & not distorted. By itself it’s a 7 but with proper Sony gears it’s a solid 8
