Sony - WH-1000XM5 Wireless Noise Cancelling Over-the-Ear Headphones - Blue

I will admit, I was hesitant about these headphones when I first saw them all around TikTok and YouTube. I tried them at Best Buy, but I initially didn’t like how dirty they got or the sound quality. I was more leaning towards the XM4s when I tried them on, but the ear cups on those felt more shallow and more pressed on my ears. I just instead went for it, bought the XM5s and gave them a try. After two weeks of using them while studying, commuting and working on college work, I was surprised and very happy. The headphones are very comfortable to wear for hours on end, and the ear cups are very plush and soft. My ears have not hurt so far, and they do tend to have a bit of depth, so your ears won’t be touching as much or at all to the ear cup mesh. The sound quality isn’t good out of the box, but once you tune it to your preference using the Sony Connect App, the sound quality is just top tier. I love the bit of punchy bass, but it’s not too much or harsh like the Ult Wear, which I prefer. The noise cancellation is amazing. Best I’ve ever heard. While walking around campus with loud noises, wind and cars going by, I barely could here any of my surroundings. It truly does a good job blocking all the noise with the 8 mics. And the transparency works wonderful. You can also let the headphones automatically adjust the amount of ambient noise allowed based on your surroundings, so you can hear just a bit of the outside noise, like walking across an intersection. Although these don’t fold, I really haven’t had a problem with that fitting them in my school bag, I actually prefer them not having them fold since I feel like I would be more likely to break them easily. My only gripe is that the headphones tend to pick up a lot of fingerprints. I have the blue color, and the fingerprints really show up even after just touching the ear pad controls for just a few minutes. So if you do like the black or blue, just know you’ll be getting fingerprints. If you get the smoky pink or the white color, I don’t think so. Also, even if they are full price at Best Buy at the time you get them or about to get them, you can totally price match them within the return policy. I got mine price matched after my purchase and was quick and easy with customer service. Just something to keep in mind. Otherwise, I have been very happy with these headphones. Great sound quality, comfortable Feel, sleek and smooth design, and overall a nice pair of headphones for anyone.

Design wise they headphones in my opinion look so clean and gorgeous. They are lightweight and don't creak and rattle and really don't feel cheap. Sturdy build. Sound quality wise these bad boys are amazing. Clean highs and mids with a crisp low end. The bass is crisp and punchy. The Sony headphones app allows for so much customization of the equalizer to each person's preference. I like clean and crisp highs and mids with clean punchy bass line that doesn't over power everything else. The sound stage is pretty good and at this price point they are really really amazing. The instrument and sound separation is very distinct with different genres which is wonderful. The app is a must for these headphones for control changes and eq settings and updates. Ldac is also a nice welcome on Android phones. Works perfect for both Samsung and Apple devices in my usage. I highly recommend.

Great Headphones for relaxing. Studying, working out & making phone calls. These are my go to headphone because they are Comfortable, Minimal, Stylish & sound amazing. The ANC works really well & so does the transparency mode. The Mic is great for phone calls as well. Battery lasts long plus it's usbc so it charge's pretty quickly. 100% recommend if your looking for great sounding headphones that are also comfortable & look great. I wish I picked these up when they were on sale for $349 during the Holidays. Pick up & Enjoy.

2.5 years of use and counting! Sound quality never fades. Battery life still the same. Awesome color and design. Very comfortable to wear.

These headphones are incredibly good at canceling noise. Even windy days will sound like the air is still. Bass is very strong and can be adjusted in the Sony app. I do have some complaints though. They don’t fold as small as the xm4s, they don’t lay on your chest ear cups down (see photo), and they make the gesture sounds with the gestures turned off. The last one is the worst thing about the headphones, which I think says good things about them overall. Again, best ANC I have ever experienced. They are also very comfortable!
