About this product
The Sophs' honesty, flamingly intrusive thoughts, and genre-spreading caught the attention of Rough Trade founders Geoff Travis and Jeannette Lee immediately. When Ramon sent a demo reel out to his favorite indies, he wasn't expecting any replies. But Travis and Lee were in his inbox the next day, asking if he'd hop on a call.Rough Trade heard the sort of creativity and variety - and Inchdon't expect me to act prettyInch sentiment - that could get The Sophs - including Ramon, Sam Yuh (keyboards), Austin Parker Jones (electric guitar), Seth Smades (acoustic guitar), Devin Russ (drums), and Cole Bobbitt (bass) - a slot on nearly any stage. They heard a five-song seed of their debut record GOLDSTAR, out March 13th, 2026At any moment, The Sophs are entering pop-punk; blazing through funk; talk-singing to the audience. Their enthusiasm for every iteration is evident, and Ramon's rich, full voice deftly nestles into endless categories, utterly chameleonic.InchWe never try to be as versatile as we end up being,Inch Ramon said. GOLDSTAR has a Delta Blues-style song; it has a ZZ Top-inspired tune. To some degree, The Sophs see song creation like pop art they're focused on the idea of reproducing something over and over again until it's meaningless. The genre mix comes on the heels of sparks of inspiration Ramon will bring Yuh a song and pull out a piece (e.g., InchI want drums like thatInch) and they'll create something altogether new. Take the vaudevillian InchTHE DOG DIES IN THE END.Inch In an aughts pop-punk croon, Ramon takes listeners through a laundry list of intrusive, cruel thoughts, cresting over Yuh's accordion. 20 years ago Sunburned Hand of the Man released InchHeaddressInch and it cracked there world open. This is not hyperbole. The album resulted in the band becoming the cover children for a scene / genre-defining story titled InchNew Weird AmericaInch by the Wire and also saw the album given a 9.0 / Best New Music tag from Pitchfork (Inch... The music flows so readily with complete and utter disdain for trend and fashion that it feels simultaneously primitive and advanced... Inch). Largely out of print since back then, InchHeaddressInch is back to help put the world back on a better path. Remastered for this 20th anniversary edition freshly from the original masters and housed within a gatefold bearing archival photos, this is true head music for true heads. Mexico City's Sunset Images emerge with their most daring and immersive work to date, Oscilador, arriving January 23 on Dedstrange. Known for pushing the boundaries of noise rock and psychedelic experimentation, the band plunges deeper into their raw, unrelenting sound-crafting an album that thrives in chaos, distortion, and hypnotic repetition.Oscilador captures Sunset Images at a new creative peak jagged guitars dissolve into swirling feedback, fractured rhythms pulse like machinery on the brink, and vocals echo through layers of reverb as if channeled from another dimension. The record balances intensity and atmosphere, offering both catharsis and transcendence. It's a sonic free fall that feels at once destructive and redemptive-like watching a city crumble only to find strange beauty in the ruins. The album title reflects the band's fascination with constant motion and instability, the oscillations of sound and life itself. Across the record, Sunset Images embrace the extremes minimal passages expand into walls of noise, meditative drones are shattered by bursts of primal energy, and every song teeters on the edge of collapse. This restless spirit makes Oscilador not just a collection of songs, but a visceral experience-one that mirrors the tension and electricity of Mexico City's underground scene.Joining forces with Dedstrange, Sunset Images step onto a global stage while staying true to their uncompromising vision. For fans of A Place To Bury Strangers, Sonic Youth, or My Bloody Valentine, Oscilador delivers the thrill of pure immersion-music that doesn't just demand to be heard, but to be felt in the chest, the bones, and the subconscious. With Oscilador, Sunset Images invite listeners to lose themselves in noise, distortion, and dissonance-and to find clarity within the chaos.1.
