Spiridon Schischigin - Soul of Yakutia - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Limited picture disc vinyl LP pressing. ARCHITECTS' landmark album Ruin stands as the record that first revealed the full force of the Brighton metalcore innovators. Originally released in 2007, the album marked a decisive turning point heavier, sharper, and far more technically ambitious than anything the band had attempted before. Ruin was the moment Architects transformed from a rising UK underground act into one of the most forward-thinking bands in modern heavy music.

A very prolific member of the Criss Cross family, trumpeter Alex Sipiagin has logged in nine releases as a leader for the tag over the span of 12 years. He is also a vital member of the all-star collective Opus Five, that group's most recent effort being the critically acclaimed Pentasonic (CRC 1351). for his tenth session at the helm, Sipiagin has delivered his most freewheeling recital to date. An integral member of the trumpeter's inner circle since his 2000 debut, Steppin' Zone (CRC 1202), the always exciting Chris Potter fills out the front line on saxophones. And for the first time, Sipiagin has opted for an ensemble sans piano or guitar. With frequent collaborators Scott Colley on bass and Eric Harland on drums, the results over eight original compositions are as fresh and contemporary as they come.

This is Russian trumpet star Alex Sipiagin's third outing on Criss Cross. This time, as before, in the company of a group of New York jazz greats tourist Seamus Blake and guitarist Adam Rogers plus a rhythm section consisting of piano star David Kikoski, bassist Boris Kozlov and drummer Jonathan Blake. Listen to the beautiful rendition of InchHolland,Inch a piece composed and arranged by Sipiagin and dedicated to bassist Dave Holland. The CD offers five Sipiagin originals and one Charles Mingus composition, InchTijuana Gift ShopInch.
