Squid - O Monolith - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

At last the debut album from Squid and it's everything you wished for and more. Bright Green Field is produced by Dan Carey and released via Warp Records. It's an album of towering scope and ambition, it is deeply considered, paced and intricately constructed. With all band members playing such a vital and equal role, this album is very much the product of five heads operating as one. Some bands might be tempted to include previous singles on their debut - and the band already released two more in 2020 via 'Sludge' and 'Broadcaster' - but instead Bright Green Field is completely new. This sense of limitlessness and perpetual forward motion is one of the the key ingredients that makes Squid so loved by fans and critics alike, from BBC Radio 6 Music who have A-Listed previous singles, 'Houseplants', 'The Cleaner' and 'Match Bet' to publications such as, The Guardian, NME, The Face, The Quietus and countless others.

Amy Helm created a map of memories on Silver City. She brings her experiences as a single mother, her family's legacies, her blessings and curses into focus as conversations that travel through time celebrating womanhood. The torchbearer of Levon Helm's legacy in Woodstock, Amy is as heart-forward a performer and songwriter. She brings an inspirational horn-driven groove to InchMoney on 7,Inch a letter to her sons on InchHwy 81,Inch and gets behind the drums on InchBaby Come Back.Inch

Kall - Inchthe Velvet Underground of black 'n' rollInch according to Cvlt Nation - have come a long way. It has been six years since the successors of depressive black metal pioneers Lifelover released their self-titled debut, and while the ghost of their former band floats above three of the members, their second full-length InchBrandInch is a paean to self-empowerment and rigorous individualism. InchWe are basically still dealing with past abuse and angst,Inch the group states, Inchonly in a more constructive way with the same sincerity.Inch The raw-sounding, yet refined compositions mirror the emotional purity their creators wanted to maintain. The title InchBrandInch (InchfireInch) refers to the song 'Eld' as a tale about a violently cathartic experience at a forest fire, making the primordial power of nature a recurring theme. In this sense, the album is a call to overcome suffering by facing it right on, using the idioms of Scandinavian black metal, shoe-gazing post rock, saxophone-fueled psychedelia and the saddest of pop to get the message across. Break the shackles of society and let go of any preconceived notions while keeping in mind that you are not special, find your purpose in life to be as free as you possibly can. Or - to use the Swedes' own plain words InchKall, like Lifelover, shows it's collective middle-finger to any scenes. The more they conform, the more we will set ourselves apart from them...Inch InchBrandInch is available as Digipak CD, gatefold double LP with etching (black, limited neon orange transparent).
