Star Trek Trilogy Collection - 4K Blu-Ray [4K Ultra HD Blu-ray]

I was always a fan of this trilogy and despite owning it on Blu-Ray since 2016, I felt the need to upgrade to 4K, and I'm glad I did! The jump in picture quality isn't huge and all 3 films are only 2K DIs upscaled to 4K sadly, but there is a noticeable uptick in detail. The main reason to get this collection though is the addition of HDR! The HDR really makes the first 2 films POP with all the lens flares and phaser shots being dazzlingly bright! Into Darkness is without a doubt the best looking of the 3 in this collection due in no small part to the fact that over 40% of the movie was shot in an IMAX ratio meaning your whole TV screen will be covered in 4K HDR goodness during those scenes. Sadly the final film Beyond improves the least from the move to 4K with HDR being fairly dull most of the film and the uptick in resolution not being much of a jump over the existing Blu-Ray. Every film DOES get a fantastic Dolby Atmos audio mix though which is worth the upgrade on its own! Overall I do recommend this release, but I must warn that this set does NOT come with any bonus feature discs. You have to buy each film as a seperate release to get those bonus features.

I know many who are fans may not like this but they did a great job with the timeliness they chose here in these movies. Beware that the digital is on VUDU only and sometimes streaming the 4k it cuts off the video and only the audio will continue. Aside from that great buy.

JJ Abrams did a horrible job. The flashes of white light just disrupts the action. What was he thinking? I still recommend the movie to die hard Trek fans.

When i put the movie on, i was expecting a gorgeous picture, but i was met with a jaw dropping image. This transfer nails everything. The contrast, the color, the hdr, the audio, and the changing aspect ratios are simply put; STUNNING. Order this immediately and add it to your collection.
