Nice bridge between the original Star Trek cast and the Next Generation cast.

Each movie builds on the last, and makes the movies even more enjoyable to watch!

I love Star Trek films. I love Leonard Nimoy!!!!!!

It was nice when the original people were there - Kirk, Scotty & Chekov. Sulu's daughter is there for that part. It would have been nice to see more of them & her. There is a cute kitty, but it doesn't have much time in the movie. That is where Data has a good scene. The movie does not make me want to watch that particular Star Trek group. They are not as cool as the original.

This was the 7th Star Trek movie to come to the theaters, and was overwhelmongly a hit with Trekkies. Captains Kirk and Picard share the screen in this 'time travel' story to catch a scientist who is prepared to harness enegy from a man-made planet at any cost. Picard and the new crew of the Enterprise have to pull out all the stops to prevent this from happening. William Shatner and Patrick Stewart reprise their roles as Captains of the Starship Enterprise. This was probably the best of the movies made exclusively for the movie theater.

Not the greatest Star Trek movie with the TNG cast, but it is good enough to be enjoyable.

I have always like this series of the Star Trek Movies. Excellent script with bring two Star Trek generations together.

Generations presents an interesting way to transition the Star Trek feature films from the original cast to the Next Generation cast. The interplay between Captains Kirk and Picard are generally well written and executed.

If you loved the original Star Trek, this is a great transition to the new one.

When Star Trek: The Next Generation ended its illustrious run in May 1994 with one of the best series finales of all time, Paramount made the decision that the show would follow the lead of the original Trek series and segue into a series of feature films. Instead of waiting years for those films (as we had for Kirk & co.), we only had to wait until November of the same year for the first film. With hindsight, this turned out to be a hasty move. This movie, like the following three TNG films, has great moments and ideas but falls flat when compared to the series itself, especially when dealing with character moments, which became a hallmark of TNG. The prologue begins with Kirk christening the new Enterprise-B and then vanishing into space following a rescue the crew must carry out. Fast forward 78 years and Picard and co must assist a scientific outpost that has been ambushed. There they find Dr. Soran (another nice turn by Malcolm McDowell) who was one of those rescued by Kirk & the Enterprise-B at the beginning of the picture and, we later realize, has a hidden agenda. The SFX are first rate, especially the shocking destruction of the beloved Enterprise-D. Kirk's death, however, while not as anticlimatic as Ripley's in Alien 3, just sits there and shrugs. Overall, this film leaves a bitter aftertaste after the sweet pleasure of TNG's finale, "All Good Things...."

They killed off Captain Kirk. That was a dumb way to kill of an iconic character.
