    Surprised!

My Background as a Gamer: Prior to purchasing this game I played the beta which only allowed limited access to one map. However, I easily put in over 20 hours in just the Beta. Let me begin by saying I am not an FPS player, my background is in MMOs. I have spent most my time playing games like Star Wars Galaxies, Guildwars (2), Dofus etc. However, my boyfriend and I both love gaming and he really wanted me to give this game a shot. The Game: Pros The game is beautiful really, the maps look fantastic. Graphics wise I would give this game a 5/5. The sound effects are something that really stood out to me though, they are fantastic, the game feels so immersive and I think a lot of that credit goes to the sound. The actual game play is also fun. You can play as both the imperials and rebels which gives the perspective of each map a little variety. I have logged at least 50 hours in the first month of the game being out. For the most part the weapon choices are balanced. There are a couple things that are overpowered at the moment but already there have been balance fixes that have addressed such problems. Something I personally LOVE coming from playing MMOs is the third person option. You can choose to play this game in third or first person making it perhaps more accessible to people who have not spent as much time in First Person Shooters. Cons Unfortunately, only a month into the game being out, there is a serious problem for the PC version of this game. It has become increasingly difficult to find a match. Which means sometimes I log on and cannot find a game to join... Very frustrating after playing this game intensely for a month and loving it. There have been forum posts saying that the devs are aware of the issue. If I had written this review two weeks after the game came out this would not have been included in my review. There are also some minor annoyances such as the fact that you can only spawn on one party member, your partner. Some maps have major flaws such as being far too open or having stationary weapons pointed at objectives creating some serious choke points. There is also a serious lack of maps and weapons. Though with the current offerings I feel that both my boyfriend and I have put enough time into the game to make it worth the purchase. I'd also like to point out that they did just give us a free map the beginning of this December(2015) and there are also multiple DLCs on the way though they will require a separate purchase. Summary: Amazing game, it's beautiful, sounds incredible, and is genuinely fun. I think they nailed the Starwars setting and have created some really great game modes. My favorites are Walker Assault and Drop Zone. The weapons all feel like they do offer something a little different, I have enjoyed experimenting with them all. While there are some serious drawbacks a lot of them fall under the category of things that game developers usually address as time progresses such as the matchmaking and limited map options. NO game is perfect, I have yet to play a game where everything has been designed perfectly to my tastes. I would definitely recommend this game. For the purchase price I have had plenty of fun. The only hesitation I have is that the PC community for this game is already much smaller than the console populations and with the matchmaking issue it really has been difficult to find matches quickly. If this were not an issue I would give this a 100% recommend. I was shocked at how much I ended up enjoying this game. If you love starwars and enjoy shooters I've no doubt you'll love this game too but, if you are just wanting an in depth competitive shooter there are better options.

    Captures Star Wars feel

Initially I wasn't going to buy SW Battlefront remembering the previous versions from Pandemic Studio, but after seeing footage of the game on Youtube I changed my mind. The graphics are great and Dice getting full access to Lucasfilm archives and sound effects really puts you into the SW universe. The biggest disappointment with the game is the online play and getting on to servers. The match making is all behind the scenes, meaning you can't see which servers are full or which are playing what game type. You just click on the type of game play you want to join and then hopefully you find a server that isn't completely full. Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't. Overall I still recommend the game especially if you're a SW die hard. It's fun and immersive. Oh, one thing to be aware of. You need to create an Origin account. If you don't already have one make sure the account you create is set for 18 or older otherwise you will not be able to play online.

Pretty to look at, but lacking in depth

Coming from Battlefields 3&4 and the OG Battlefronts, I have to confess some ddisappointment with this game. The game is pretty and plays quite well, but it really feels like it's lacking in content, especially for a $60 AAA title. There are few maps (all of which feel claustrophobic) and little in the way of customization beyond simply unlocking new weapons and cosmetics. I'm sure that EA's season pass will add some depth, but I'll reserve judgment. Don't get me wrong, the game is technically quite proficient, but I'm not convinced it was worth the wait, at least right now.

good game for the star wars fans

this game has it all, and has more on dlc coming soon. a multiplayer paradise of many style types of fps single and online gaming. Lucasarts definitely has a little tweaking to do on some of the balancing in the game play, but is worth the purchase if your a Star Wars fan. Hours of challenges and very hard difficult matches to compete in.

    Amazing game! Not worth $60

This is a great game. It's graphically beautiful and addicting fun. However it is not worth $60 bucks just because it's online only. There is no campaign mode. Other than it's a great game at like half the cost. Or of course with GCU!

Questions & Answers
  • On the picture, it says download only. Is that true? No disc?

    Yes, it is true.

  • Why do I have to pay for shipping?

You could always go into the store to get a game, but they stopped carrying PC versions of their games in their brick and mortar stores.. They only carry game console systems, so unless you are trying to purchase a console system game you have little other choice. The shipping and handling charges vary, but the price you have to pay for these games for PCs is actually worth it. Good luck with that...
