A: The DP2DVI2 is a passive DisplayPort to DVI adapter. Generally, the DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort source has the DP++ symbol above it. The symbol is a D with a P inside of it, with two + signs to the left, one on top of the other. You can also contact the manufacturer of the computer to confirm this specification. A: I have not had an issue with this adapter and a 120hz monitor, I don't know why it would not perform the same for a 144hz.

A: yes, if one is dvi and the other is disply port or hdmi
A: It all depends on the monitor input. Most monitors starting in the mid 2000s started going to DVI standard and removed compatibility with the older VGA. But apparently VGA is still used for…things? My monitor has a DVI input, while my new video card only has DisplayPort output. If I only had HDMI output, I would have gone with a different converter. So it really all comes down to what you need to convert to.
