I played the original State of Decay and that was a fresh take on the zombie apocalypse. State of Decay 2 is more of that with a multiplayer addition. The same survival mechanics of searching buildings for the five basics (food, materials, medicines, fuel and ammo) and using them to build your base is present. Of course, not all base sites can accommodate the same structures, so you will have to decide what is important to you. The addition of the plague hearts along with infestations was a bit nerve wracking, as the plague hearts can take a lot of damage. The ability to carry over your survivors as a "legacy" is also a nice touch. I have a couple of complaints that make the game frustrating. 1. Sometimes, a member of your community will have a "personal" quest. If you are using that character when the quest pops, you cannot switch characters without cancelling the mission. This is extremely frustrating as you will not be able to load up your "follower" with the correct inventory. (Think follower with a broken melee weapon. You won't be able to equip them with anything now.) 2. Sometimes your follower "disappears" during a quest. For some reason they won't get back in your vehicle. You might even seen them on the mini-map, but they will not be around. If you return to base, I've had a hard time finding the "lost" follower. Until you tell your first follower to "leave" you can't pick up another one. If you're on one of those personal quests, you can't switch off the character to the missing one to see where they are. This is very frustrating, because you really don't want to be out in the land all alone. 3. Sometimes when you are face to face with your follower (who has been missing, and sometimes they've not been missing) and you try to switch characters, the characters warp to another part of your base. So, now you will have to try to find the character that you were just using within your base in order to realease them and pick up a new follower. Overall, I like the game. I was a fan of the first, and I'm a fan of the second even with with annoying bugs. It has RPG elements along with a simplistic combat system. You can waste a lot of time with this game.

This game is lots of fun. Sure it's not perfect. There are bugs. There's pretty much no story or real campaign. But it's very addictive and well worth the price. If you liked the first game, you'll enjoy this one.

Single player is good, but it's most fun when playing with friends. Some quests can get repetitive, but there's still lots of fun to be had. There are quite a few bugs however. For instance, running along and tripping over an invisible rock or whatever it was caused my character to fall down and get injured with a fractured disk. Another example is when I was driving my car following a friend and then all of the sudden my car explodes and goes flying a hundred feet in the air. Like I said before, it's got bugs, but it's still fun!

First play is loads of fun, but the missions are repetitive the next go around, even with different party members. The free add-on content keeps the game interesting. Can be a bit glitchy at times, but there have been regular updates. Team A.I. is just adequate, you need to team with live players for the best game experience.

State of Decay 2 is a game that is suited both for a multiplayer and single player experience. It is immensely fun and can cause you to sink many hours into it once you get invested in your communities. It is held back by its game-breaking bugs at times, though. For half the price of a typical new game, State of Decay 2 is worth a purchase despite these flaws.

State of Decay is a great game but not for everyone. A true survival game where micro management is key to surviving the zombie apocalypse. Anyone who owns an Xbox One and is looking for a great exclusive this is it. Be aware this game is not for everyone, I personally loved it and would have given it 5 stars if not for so many bugs and glitches.

This game is an open-world, zombie apocalypse survival game. What it has to offer (that the first SOD game did not have) is the ability to join and play with friends. If you are someone who enjoyed playing the older Left for Dead games (especially in a team of friends), you will probably enjoy playing State of Decay 2 with your buddies as well. This game keeps you busy with objectives, looting, and fighting off zombies. I would have definitely given 5 stars; however, 1 star has to be deducted based on the mechanics alone. The game has its moments of being buggy, especially when driving in a vehicle during multi-player. The graphics could be way better, considering this game was released in 2018. Also, (not 100% sure but...) you can't search and join random online players. I believe you can only play with people you know and send invites to. These issues aside, as I said before, the gameplay is so much fun. I would recommend it, especially if you intend on playing it with friends.

This game is fantastic!, you have to start with nothing and scavenge your way through the rubble and try and start a new , safe, place to live and survie. Great variables make the game hard to advance and more challenging, TEAM up with others to explore, protect or hunt.

This is a fun game to play but there were a lot of bugs. A lot of them were fixed with the 20gb patch update but still had some issues. It was fun for about a week and but became boring doing the same things over and over again. Wish it had more action.

State of decay 2 had brought new life into a series that started one the original Xbox. Are you into action adventure games? This is definite for you. Are you into survival games? This is for you too! Do you enjoy light simulators? This is for you as well! This game is a mash up of these three genres and it balances them very well. If you want to build your own story and survive the zombie apocalypse all why attempting to create the largest and most powerful group this will give you hours to spend time on. The action adventure loop is fun and you always find tense situations to decide whether or not you want to run, hide, or fight. The survival makes you tends to everyone’s needs in you camp and aid each persons problems, disease, medical conditions. The simulator is building your camp to be the beat it can be. I highly recommend this to anyone that was slightly interested... and it’s only 30 dollars!

It's a good game, but has bugs and the combat is almost overly simplistic. It has some issues you won't see in giant Blockbusters. Good for the price though.

Right up front I love this game. Even though it's glitchy and co-op can be hit or miss. The fun I have with this game is immeasurable! Organizing and strategically deciding what you're going to do is a blast that sets my mind at ease. This game does sometimes try and randomly throw a lot at you, but since it's going for a more "realistic" zombie apocalypse, it fits. You're not going to be able to help everyone, you are going to have people die, you will have to scavenge for supplies. But the joy of being in this living world that has a back story that eventually brings everything together is just too much fun to miss out on in my opinion. At it's core mechanics it's a survival horror with base building in the zombie apocalypse. If that doesn't sound even kinda fun, just walk away. But with budget price and budget expectations you will find a gem here!

So, in the beginning of the game you are prompt to a few character. Each character you choose has a storyline and have a partner to build your community with. Wish there were more character. But I have to say this game pulled me in immediately. I haven't turned off my xbox one. If you have friends who play this, do play it together. Challenges are more challenging and survival modes are fun to go through together.
