Stone Horses - Redemption Chronicles - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Lyrically and thematically, of Sound Mind contemplates the quandaries of human psychology and it's effect on and within the development of modern society. Although essentially conceptual in nature, the record is a blatant transition from the allegorical and mythological framework of their debut Neptune with Fire. The 8 part, 1-hour plus album lends meaning, while actively seeking answers, much like the work of Camus or Thoreau. Without absolution or authority, Ancestors insight a thought crusade with meaningful intent. Recorded, mixed and mastered at Infra Sonic Sound by Pete Lyman, known for his diverse work with Mars Volta, Qui and No Age. Ancestors, including contributions by notable Los Angeles artists David Scott Stone (Melvins, Unwound, Slug), Sera Timm's (Black Math Horsemen) and cellist Ramiro Zapata have created an album truly of Sound Mind; a refreshing and aptly named experience of incredible proportions.

The three years since Haybaby's last full-length have been tumultuous ones for the Brooklyn band. Following the high of it's debut Sleepy Kids and subsequent EP Blood Harvest, singer/guitarist Leslie Hong's father was diagnosed with cancer, which instigated a life-altering move to help him through an ultimately fatal battle with the disease. Over the same period, band members Sam Yield and Jeremy Duvall weathered heartaches of their own; and just when things seemed like they couldn't get harder, the band's tour van was incinerated in a random act of arson.Writing and recording amidst the tragedy and turmoil, Haybaby's sophomore LP They Get There unapologetically confronts legacies of harm. Whether it's the intensely personal narrative of InchMonster,Inch a tense reckoning with the lasting emotional repercussions of an abusive relationship, or in the unstoppable fury of InchWitch Like Me,Inch a detonation of rage at the ongoing history of violence against women, it's not surprising that this album contains some of the band's most biting, unforgiving songs yet.Perhaps what is most extraordinary is the abundance of everything else - the tenderness and lyricism in InchAnimosity,Inch or the playfulness in opener InchTotal Bore.Inch They Get There is a record where any spark can turn into a blaze, and where saplings grow in the midst of wildfires. It's the work of a band that has experienced grief, loss, anger, and arson. But instead of giving up or giving in, the trio has persevered and swallowed it all, converting the negative into fuel for hope. If Haybaby can get there, so can you1. Total Bore2. Monster3. SILVER HORSES were formed in Italy five years ago by guitar player Gianluca Galli (Time Machine) and drummer Matteo Bonini (MGRB). After the band completed the line-up with bass player Andrea Castelli, they needed an Anglo-born vocalist to sing their Classic Hard Rock songs. Through Dario Mollo they contacted Tony Martin (Ex Black Sabbath, Mollo Martin, Giuntini Project, Empire, M3), who immediately accepted, and the combo recorded their self-titled debut. Best known for his time fronting British legends Black Sabbath during their most commercial period in the late '80s / early '90s, Martin's bluesy tone was the perfect choice for this kind of material. Silver Horses' music is Classic, traditional Hard Rock with a foot firmly planted in the Seventies and the other in the groove from the '80s very reminiscent of classic Whitesnake and Free. InchSilver HorsesInch offers a very, very classic set of hard rock songs that are very well composed, performed and recorded. The sound and style are typically British, served with a precise and polished musicianship finely produced, warm and organic. Tony Martin feels right at home within this material and his voice is in top form as usual, enhancing the tunes with his phenomenal throat. A good dish of Classic Hard Rock is always welcomed, and InchSilver HorsesInch is very, very purist in it's delivery. Bonus tracks feature 5 tracks with Tony Martin on Vocals, 2 with Joel Ellis (Heavy Bones, Cats In Boots) and 5 tracks with Stefan Berggren (Company of Snakes, Snakes in Paradise) as well as 3 tracks with Jack Meille and 1 track with Kelly Keeling (Baton Rouge).
