Strange Circus - BLU-RAY

The arrival of a travelling circus in a plague-ravaged village in 1800s Europe would, one would think, offer the townspeople some distraction from their troubles. But there's a reason this big top only goes up at night, as the undead, shape-changing performers turn the village into a three-ring bloodbath. The Tramp finds himself at a circus where he is promptly chased around by the police who think he is a pickpocket. Running into the Bigtop, he is an accidental sensation with his hilarious efforts to elude the police. The circus owner immediately hires him, but discovers that the Tramp cannot be funny on purpose, so he takes advantage of the situation by making the Tramp a janitor who just happens to always be in the Bigtop at showtime.

Peter Lorre plays the eerie title role in this gem about a reporter (John McGuire) whose testimony sentences a small-time loser (Elisha Cook, Jr.) to the electric chair for murder. When the reporter himself is fingered in a second murder, he realizes both crimes are the work of a furtive stranger - but will anyone believe him?
