About this product

Marco Stroppa views composition as musical research and is constantly aware of the dual nature of artistic thought, Inchthe discourse about the thought and the thought itself.Inch On this , the Ensemble KNM Berlin explores the topological qualities of the sound worlds in three of Stroppa's chamber music works. All three pieces demonstrate Marco Stroppa's highly sensitive experimentation with sounds at the threshold of audibility. As a philosopher of sound, all sonorities are for him instruments of epistemology; as a musical poet, he tells stories with sensual, tactile, dynamic, and constantly changing sounds, the interpretation of which is always left up to the individual listener. The string quartet InchUn Segno nello SpazioInch (1994) deals with the idea of a sign in space that undergoes an intense increase of density, making the three-dimensionality of the space palpable. In the seven miniature movements of InchHommage à Gy. K.Inch for clarinet, viola, and piano (1997-2003), Stroppa honors the Hungarian composer György Kurtág. The performers repeatedly change their positions on the stage, creating differing effects which can be experienced purely acoustically thanks to skillfully managed microphone placement and audio mastering. In InchOsja, Sieben Strophen für eine literarische DrohneInch (2005/2013) for violin, violoncello, and piano, Stroppa reflects on the life of the Russian poet Joseph Brodsky through two of his poems.

Ensemble Recherche - Zwischen Den Sternen - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Mason's work is the result of an intensive exchange with the musicians of ENSEMBLE RECHERCHE. He leaves the Well-Tempered Sound to let floating states arise and disappear. At the tonal center is the piano, with an enraptured mood that appears like a flicker above the sounds of the ensemble. Mason works four-dimensionally with space and time. Sounds move along their paths like meteors, fade away and dive into infinity. He composes sounds, noises and spaces in the course of time. At the end of the piece, the cello is left all alone, lost in an ecstatic semi-improvisation, while the other instruments wistfully penetrate into the distance.

Space Time Continuo - Carolo - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Space Time Continuo is excited to present the ten Carolo sonatas in their first ever recording! Although the Carolo sonatas were written for smaller ensembles, the original edition served as a blank canvas to fulfill Space Time Continuo's mandate to feature the rich textures and wide soundscape possible in the continuo section. Sonatas XI, III, V and X were conceived with augmented forces and sonatas XI and III are actually new arrangements for 3 solo bass instruments and continuo. Sonata VI is performed with two bassoons, harpsichord and bowed bass (5-string low-pitched bass violin) but the other five are closer to what was suggested by the original 's title page Inchtwo solo bass instruments plus one continuo,Inch but with variation in the instrumentation of the solo voices and keyboard choice.
