Sturgill Simpson - Simpson, Sturgill : Metamodern Sounds in Country Music - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

2013 debut album from the Country singer/songwriter. Nashville sounds like Nashville again on High Top Mountain. From furious Honky-Tonk and pre-outlaw Country-rocking to spellbinding Bluegrass pickin' and emotional balladry, the album serves as a one-stop guide to everything that made real country music such a force to be reckoned with. Pure and uncompromising, devoid of gloss and fakery, High Top Mountain's dozen instant classics evoke the sound of timeless Country in it's many guises and brings back the lyrical forthrightness and depth that permeated the music Simpson absorbed during his Kentucky childhood.

Sturgill Simpson returns with a brand new concept album, The Ballad of Dood and Juanita. This is the Grammy-winning singer/songwriter's third album in twelve months and his most ambitious project to date. Written and recorded in less than a week, and featuring the same ace musicians who played on last year's Cuttin' Grass albums, the record tells a classic American story of a Civil War-era couple torn apart by violence and reunited by love-what Simpson calls Incha simple tale of either redemption or revenge.Inch

Justin Moore has never been one to follow the pack. A multiplatinum country star who left Nashville for the simple pleasures of small-town life, he built his remarkable career playing by his own rules, eschewing spotlight-chasing in favor of an honest, old-school approach. It makes perfect sense his captivating new album is titled Stray Dog. Mature and nuanced, the collection showcases Moore at his most self-assured with songs of desire and commitment, heartbreak and regret, and joy and celebration.
