A: I know this sounds stupid, but did you buy the mount made by go pro or just made for go pro? And second the suction cup won't suction directly to a dash board it should have came with an adhesive dash disk that you have to apply to the dash first. I have the suction mount and it holds on to windshields and vehicles superbly well.
Q: Will it hold onto a motorcycle helmet at 55 mph?
A: I have attached it to the bed cover, sides, and hoods of multiple vehicles going a lot faster than 55 mph and have had zero issues. It held strong in every application I used it in. The only thing I would worry about with a motorcycle helmet is the curvature of the helmet itself, if it could get an adequate suction onto it. I know GoPro makes curved mounts specifically for helmets, however they use 3M adhesive to stick to it.
