About this product
SULO InchSOUL OR NOTHINGInch InchDiamond Dogs frontman goes soul deep on his new album, claims the crown and tells us that this time it's soul or nothingInch. Sulo is mostly known as the frontman and main songwriter of the legendary Swedish boogie rockers Diamond Dogs. 15 albums in they're still on top of their game with the recently released and critically acclaimed Little Richard album InchMacon Georgia GiantInch that got them to play the Cherry blossom festival in Macon Georgia, recording at Capricorn and meeting up with Otis Reddings family and Little Richards cousin. That album was a collaboration with Sulo's longtime friend Chris Spedding (Bryan Ferry, Elton John, S*x Pistols etc). Cos besides Diamond Dogs Sulo has frequently working with other artists such as Maria McKee, Janis Ian, Crystal Gayle, Ian Hunter, Paul Young etc and he is also the singer and songwriter of the UK act The Crunch featuring members from The Clash and Sham 69. As being one of his generations most prolific songwriters he manage to some solo albums besides all his other engagements. InchSoul or nothingInch that is due to be released in March is maybe his most soulful and personal effort so far. The clue is in the title even if it's a travesty built on Small Faces classic InchAll or nothingInch. But that also leads us on track to what this is all about. Cos the whole album is a homage to the raspy soul singers, mainly from the British islands, that once influenced Sulo's singing and songwriting. Names like Joe Cocker, Rod Stewart, Terry Reid, Frankie Miller and others who also embraced the American soul music in the 60's and turned it into something else has been Sulo's guide to make this album happen. The first single InchLove really hurts without youInch is a perfect proof of the impact the US soul had on British music in general. It's a cover of Billy Oceans self penned UK number one h

2020 . Wolf Parade Thin Mind, the group's fifth album for Sub Pop. The 10-track record was recorded by John Goodmanson at Risque Disque on Vancouver Island, BC, mixed by Goodmanson at Bogroll Studios in Seattle, WA, and mastered by Noah Mintz at Lacquer Channel Mastering in Toronto, ON. Thin Mind has sci-fi, post-apocalyptic and dystopian narratives interwoven throughout. These themes emerged while working at Risque Disque, which Boeckner jokingly describes as a Dutchman's failed utopia, a problematic structure with a post-apocalyptic vibe the studio is housed in a stone barn hand-built by the Dutchman in the middle of the woods, using local materials and based on his memory of a building he loved growing up in the Netherlands. Thin Mind finds the core members of Wolf Parade working as a trio, as they did on past albums Apologies to the Queen Mary and At Mount Zoomer, with songwriting duties evenly split between singers Dan Boeckner and Spencer Krug. The album includes the singles InchForest Green,Inch InchJulia, Take Your Man Home,Inch and InchAgainst the Day,Inch the latter of which features a rare, co-vocal performance from Boeckner and Krug.

New one-off pressing coloured vinyl 18th anniversary edition of the long-out-of-print Studio One Soul 2, the long-awaited second volume of one of the largest selling Soul Jazz Records' Studio One collections. Studio One Soul 2 takes us deep into Jamaica's long-standing fascination with American Soul and Funk music. Featuring a host of seminal Reggae artists who all first established their careers at Studio One before finding worldwide success. Featured artists include Horace Andy, The Heptones, Cornell Campbell, Ken Boothe, Jackie Mittoo, Jacob Miller and many more A-Class Studio One legends interpreting both classic and little-known American Soul and Funk tunes by the likes of Curtis Mayfield, Bill Withers, The Five Stairsteps, Marvin Gaye, The Stylistics, Lee Dorsey, Al Green, Syl Johnson and more.Curtis Mayfield is without a doubt the main soul influence for many reggae groups in the 1960s and 70s. Cornell Campbell's 'Ten to One' featured here is a stunning recut of the original Studio One single by The Mad Lads who first covered this Curtis-penned hit for the Impressions. Another great Curtis Mayfield production, The Five Stairsteps and Cubie's 'Don't Change', is interpreted by Studio One soul man Winston Francis. Similarly, Devon Russell's superb 'Make Me Believe in You' is, if anything, superior to Curtis Mayfield's ground-breaking original. While American Soul and Funk remain a constant source of inspiration on this album, classic DJs such as Prince Jazzbo and Little Joe also used these rhythms to ride vocal toasts over to serious effect. This selection features a mixture of classics, super-rare and unreleased tracks from Studio One all lovingly digitally re-mastered for this . The new CD edition comes as digipack plus booklet. Another essential Studio One .
