I would like to say I am a huge supergirl fan. Helen Slater is a pioneer for bringing super heroines to the big screen. I feel like she never gets the credit she deserves. I'm happy to see this being released on bluray after all these years. I can see why some people disliked the film with some of the scenes near the end of the movie. But if you overlook what they did (given the movie was made in 1984 after all) and focus on Supergirl interacting with a world she isn't quite familiar with, it's almost impossible not to enjoy this movie. I want to give you a review now on the contents. I like the artwork for the front cover but I feel a bit awkward looking at the back cover. The art they used made me feel like someone tried to cartoonize supergirl a little bit. When you open it the bluray is clearly labeled the international cut. they also give you the directors cut on dvd which is an awesome plus but my only cavete is again they used the unflattering box art from the back cover on the disc. I own the directors cut already previously so its always nice to know i have a spare disc just in case something happens. Its been awhile since I watched the directors cut so I cant honestly tell you what the difference is between that and the international cut. The bluray includes a making of featurette which i thought was really cool to see. If you are a supergirl fan this is an absolute must to own for your collection.

Tries to be epic looking like Superman the Movie and while it has the same hazy look it isn't quite epic in scope. But it still has its charms. The international version is good but maybe too long. Audio is fine, nothing spectacular. Extras are almost the same as the special edition DVD, missing a few items so keep the DVD for the complete extras.

I always love this movie, hascult followers, I only saw it once at drive ins when it came out in 80s. Years later saw international version on VHS extra 12 mins builds to myth/ the story better. Glad this blu ray is available better picture and color on HD. **This is the international version though not us version. But as bounus comes with the directors cut on dvd also. Directors cut is not US theatrical release has extra 8 mins

Finally Supergirl is on Blu-ray hi-def with her cousin. Only downside is that its only the International version and not the director's cut which is on a second DVD disc

As a child of the 80’s, I like many others consider Christopher Reeve the quintessential Man of Steel. In conjunction with that, this film (while not without its flaws) is a nice edition to that saga and I’m glad to have it on blu ray.

What can I say, it's Supergirl. Helen Slater is gorgeous. I bought this on DVD years ago and spent more for it. If you like Superman movies, buy this to complete your collection. I wish the Director's cut was also in bluray format.

While not the greatest of superhero movies this is a very campy 80s flick.

...but definitely better than the second two. Helen Slater, perfectly cast as Supergirl, plays it straight while Faye Dunaway chews her way through the scenery.
