Q: What does NVR mean? I know about DVR but what is NVR?
A: Hi Sid. NVR stands for Network Video Recorder. This means the entire system is digital and there are Ethernet cables between each camera and the recorder. A DVR system uses analog coax cables instead. NVR systems generally offer more features and better video quality. -SD, Swann Team
A: Hello LW. Thank you for reaching out to us with your question. This recorder does not require an internet connection to function and you only need a monitor/TV for the initial setup. However, an internet connection is required if you will need to remotely access and control your device. The general watts per camera are 3.6 Watts, 2.592 KWh/month while the generally uses 72 Watts, 51.84 KWh/month. This system also includes a 1TB HDD that can store months of video before overwriting older files. You can easily back up videos to your personal Dropbox account in the cloud &/or transfer videos to a USB memory stick. If you need assistance with your product or have any questions, please visit our support page or contact us over the phone. https://support.swann.com/s/ Your feedback is important to us. A: Hi Robert. Yes, you can choose whether the lights are triggered or not via the NVR's settings menu. You can change this setting for each camera, meaning that you can have lights on some cameras but not others if you wish. -SD, Swann Team
Q: Good morning, is these cameras PTZ??
A: Hi MKN. No, these cameras have a fixed lens with a 90 degree wide field of view. You can digitally zoom into the image to view things but they do not have optical zoom nor mechanical Pan & Tilt controls. -SD, Swann Team
Q: What is the maximum distance you can zoom without losing image quality?
A: Hi Mario. The cameras in this kit offer Digital Zoom (using whatever pixels are already in the image) rather than Optical Zoom (where the lens physically moves). With digital zoom the image quality will reduce the further you zoom in, but as you're starting with 4K to begin with you should be able to zoom in 4-8x and still see most things clearly. -SD, Swann Team
Q: How many hard drives can does this support?
A: Hello Rickinnati. This 8-channel NVR recorder supports one hard drive only up to 6TB. Hope that helps. LV - Swann Team
A: Thanks for your question. The NVR should be connected to a router via network cable if you wish to give it an internet connection to be able to view it remotely on your phone. You can also view an NVR locally on a monitor without any internet connection at all if you prefer. In our experience, Starlink routers can be unreliable with an NVR as NVRs require a stable and constant internet connection. Starlink routers jump across satellites frequently & as a result can experience small dropouts. So whilst you may be able to get the NVR to work with Starlink, it may not be the best experience. - SD, Swann Team
Q: Can you turn the audio off on these cameras?
A: Hello CS45. Yes, you can turn off the audio by going on record>Mainstream>Disable audio. I hope this helps. LV - Swann Team
