I purchased this as a size upgrade for a bedroom tv I primarily use for gaming (and occasionally sports or movies), and I cannot recommend it for that role. For tv usage, the screen looks fine, though directly comparing it to another tv with better quality you can immediately see the difference. Where it suffers is gaming. First and formost, it is locked to 60hz. That wasn't a dealbreaker to me by itself though. The backlighting (at least on my sample) is VERY inconsistent, with zones of much brighter evident, especially with white or black heavy images. I also noticed some mildy, though noticeable ghosting on a few games. Likewise, the color just isn't quite as vibrant as i'd like it to be. But it was responsive enough, I never noticed any real latency (other than the mild ghosting), and the smart functionality is Google based and responsive, which is a big plus. Sound quality is... fine. Not great, but not horrible, either. The build quality on the TV itself is... well... it definitely feels like an inexpensive tv. Very light (like, surprisingly light), plasticy, the stand feet feel really cheap - it balances fine, but they feel like dollar store toy plastic. Lastly, and this is an admittedly kind of OCD nitpicky thing, the tv has this weird little QLED logo tab stuck to the frame of the TV on the top right side. While it doesn't actually cut into the viewable area, it does stick out from the rest of the bezel and I personally found it distracting any time I looked in that corner of the screen (so again, primarily during game sessions). It's part of the actual housing as far as I could tell, I didn't want to pull on it too hard and risk cracking the screen, but it wasn't removable with the amount of force I was comfortable putting on it. For my purposes, this tv was a miss. If you're not as picky as I am, or want a good budget tv primarily for actually watching tv, Iand you want something inexpensive, I'd recommend it with caveats. For gaming, I have to give it a pass. I ultimately gave mine to my Mom (who is definitely NOT a gamer) and replaced it in my setup with an LG C4.

The TCL Google smart TV offers fantastic picture quality for the price, especially with 4K UHD and HDR support. The Google TV interface is intuitive and provides a huge selection of apps, making content discovery easy. Voice control via Google Assistant is a great bonus. However, some users report occasional slow performance or glitches, and the remote could be better. Overall, it's a strong value for a feature-rich smart TV.

TV has amazingly bright reds complimentary to the QLED technology and will get decently dark as well. The remote is Bluetooth and IR so no matter what you can still control the TV with the remote which is a huge plus. Also comes with VRR which is a huge bonus for gaming! Now to the negatives... TV speakers are crap as expected from a sub $300 TV and there is a bezel around the display. About once a month there will be small white lines that will jump horizontally across the display that can usually be fixed by going into the settings to restart the TV. The TV also has a slight bit of ghosting which unless you are really looking and in a game with a bright background and dark foreground it is almost not visible. That's why this TV is 4/5 for me it is great on a budget with some quirks that may get patched in software updates!
