About this product

Crucial questions around healing, cultural identity, and disability are among the many subjects visited by Thanya Iyer's sophomore album, KIND. Although represented by a concise title, KIND explores an expansive universe where Iyer and her band examine int erpersonal relationships, ideas of home and destination, and our collective responsibilities to one another. To aid in this journey of big, difficult questions, Iyer enlists the help of a huge cast of musicians, with guest features ranging from brass trios, vocal sextets, flautists, and harpists. Underscoring it's explorative nature, the constant movement of KIND melds the sounds of experimental pop and improv into a magical amalgam that teems with flashes of jazz and nuanced electronics. Iyer's rhythm section pulsates with genre-defying palettes of blips and skitters that twist elegantly into the melodic voices of interlocking synth, strings, and piano, allled by Iyer's enrapturing lilt. The rhythmic direction of bassist Alexander Kasirer-Smibert and percussionist Daniel Gélinas clears a navigable path in an otherwise unnavigable setting, built on the pair's understated yet intriguing expertise. The most succinct distillation of the album's themes is perhaps found in KIND's tracklist. Please Don't Hold Me Hostage for Who I Am, Who I Was and Bring Back That Which is Kind to You inspire philosophies of self-care and emergent reconfigurations of justice, calling on listeners to self-reflect and detach from our preconceptions of ourselves and our identity. At the end of it's course, KIND arrives at the conclusion of acceptance and resolve acceptance of our collective circumstance, and the resolve to make the choice to do better Pressed on ORANGE/WHITE SWIRL VINYL.

Cate Kennan - The Arbitrary Dimension Of Dreams - VINYL LP

'The Arbitrary Dimension of Dreams' is Cate Kennan's oblique exploration of memory, nighttime, and narrative. The resulting 12 compositions are brisk, evocative, and lingering. Kennan's sonic palette is vast yet harmonized, deftly matching spectral synthesizers to hazy lap steel guitars and watery analog effects. Existing in the sparsely occupied world of early melodic electronic music, her songs call to mind the sonic landscape's of Malcolm Cecil, Hans-Joachim Roedelius, and Deux Filles. Each individual track sculpts a setting, constructing an amorphous landscape of surreal musical vignettes. Picture a boat tied to a dock, bobbing with the waves, wisps of fog refusing the complete vision. This is the nebulous space of 'The Arbitrary Dimension of Dreams,' an enveloping, insistent realm that feels both intimately familiar and profoundly otherworldly.

Deep Blue Something - Lunar Phase - Transparent Blue - VINYL LP

Lunar Phase, the new (Transparent Blue vinyl) LP from iconic alt-pop group Deep Blue Something, is at once a love letter to the genre-agnostic musical landscape of the early 90s and very much of the moment. Perhaps best known for their hit single InchBreakfast at Tiffany'sInch which reached the top 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and became a global hit in 1995, culminating with a U.K. #1 in 1996, the band's music encompasses a range of styles, from dream-pop to alternative rock, pop, and post-grunge.Formed in Denton, Texas in 1993, Deep Blue Something is composed of Todd Pipes (vocals and bass), his brother Toby Pipes (vocals and lead guitar), Kirk Tatom (guitar and backing vocals), Clay Bergus (guitar and backing vocals), and John Kirtland (drums). The band's debut album, 11th Song, was released in 1993 followed by Home in 1995, Byzantium in 1998 and Deep Blue Something in 2000. Each album showcases the band's songwriting and musicianship, earning them a devoted fanbase and critical acclaim. The support of that fanbase helped lead to a reputation as a dynamic and engaging live band, having toured extensively throughout the US, Europe, and Asia. They have shared the stage with acts such as Oasis, Collective Soul, Phil Collins, Letters To Cleo, Alanis Morrisette, Adam Ant, Spin Doctors, Everclear, Manic Street Preachers, Cheap Trick, and ZZ Top, and have performed at major festivals such throughout the globe. Over 400 million streams on Spotify alone stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of Deep Blue Something's distinctive sound and style. Despite going on hiatus in the early 2000s, the band reunited in 2014 to perform a series of live shows and released the Locust House EP in 2020. The enthusiastic reception the band received stoked their creative fires, and they began recording a new album, Lunar Phase, in 2024. While not a concept album, Lunar Phase was
