Gorgeously filmed and masterfully acted, this acclaimed period drama brims with romance and intrigue. When nurse Sarah Adams (Marta Dusseldorp, Jack Irish, Janet King) returns home to 1950s Australia after 20 years in Europe, she quickly becomes entangled in the lives of the wealthy Bligh family. Sparks fly with dashing widower George (Brett Climo, Snowy River The McGregor Saga), but she clashes with his formidable mother, Elizabeth (Noni Hazlehurst, Little Fish), who enlists George's devious sister-in-law (Jenni Baird, The 4400) to disrupt their romance. As Sarah settles into rural Inverness, she befriends a good-natured farmer (Frankie J. Holden, Something in the Air) and finds an unexpected ally in the local doctor, Jack (Craig Hall, The Doctor Blake Mysteries), who has a complicated past with George's bohemian sister, Carolyn (Sara Wiseman, Rake [Australia]). Meanwhile, George's daughter, Anna (Abby Earl, The Great Mint Swindle), pursues her own illicit love, and his son, James (David Berry, Outlander), hides a painful secret from his insecure new wife, Olivia (Arianwen Parkes-Lockwood, Underbelly). Tackling weighty themes of social class, sexuality, and prejudice with insight and intelligence, this award-winning series has earned rapturous praise from critics and fans alike.
