Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing. It has been remastered from original analog tapes by Keven Reeves to 192kHz 24-bit audio and then cut on copper plates using Abbey Road Mastering's Direct Metal Mastering (DMM) lathe. The original artwork has been faithfully reproduced. Idlewild South is the second studio album by The Allman Brothers Band. Produced by Tom Dowd, the album was released on September 23, 1970. Following the of their 1969 debut, The Allman Brothers Band toured the United States extensively to promote the album, which had little commercial success. Their performances, however, did create positive word of mouth exposure that extended to more famous musicians, such as Eric Clapton, who invited group leader Duane Allman to contribute to his 1970 album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs. As a result of the band's relentless touring schedule, Idlewild South was recorded gradually over a period of five months in various cities, including New York, Miami, and Macon, Georgia, the band's home. Tom Dowd had previously been sought to record the group's debut but had been unavailable. The material presented on Idlewild South was written during this period and tested out on the road at shows. The album's title comes from the band's nickname for a rustic cabin the band rented out and used for rehearsals, as well as parties. Idlewild South contains two of the band's best-known songs, InchMidnight RiderInch (later a hit for various artists) and InchIn Memory of Elizabeth ReedInch, which became one of the band's famous concert numbers. Few live albums are as revered as The Allman Brothers Band's InchLive at the Fillmore East.Inch More than just the raw energy on stage and from the crowd, it is the electric, jazz-like interplay between the performers that sets a high bar for jam bands to reach. The impeccable rhythm blended with masterful instrumental work, keeps fans coming back for more. Most noteworthy are the dueling lead guitars of Duane Allman and Dickey Betts, and the instrumental byplay between Duane and his brother Gregg on the keyboards. Taken from a series of live shows in San Francisco recorded in March of 1971, InchLive at the Fillmore EastInch was an instant classic. It became the band's high watermark, but was tragically followed by the motorcycle deaths of Duane and bassist Berry Oakley. The original artwork has been faithfully reproduced. Eat A Peach is the third studio album from the Allman Brothers. Produced by Tom Dowd, the album was released on February 12, 1972. Following their artistic and commercial breakthrough with the of the live album At Fillmore East (1971), The Allman Brothers Band got to work on their third studio album. Many in the band were struggling, however, with heroin addictions, and checked into rehab to confront these problems. Shortly after leaving rehab, group leader and founder Duane Allman was killed in a motorcycle accident in the band's home of Macon, Georgia thus making it the final album to feature the guitarist. Eat a Peach was a mix of studio recordings-both with and without Duane Allman-and recordings from the band's famed 1971 Fillmore East performances. Eat a Peach was an immediate success and peaked at #4 on Billboard's Top 200 Pop Albums chart. The album was later certified platinum and remains a top seller in the band's discography.
