The Bad Plus - Suspicious Activity? - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

2014 , The Bad Plus' 10th studio recording and first collection of original material since 2012. INEVITABLE WESTERN continues the leaderless trio's committed belief in what they've dubbed avant-garde populism' the idea that serious music can be as engaging and accessible as it is forward-thinking and provocative. The album sees the group exploring the same set of aesthetic principles that fired their inception, a rigorous exploration of myriad musical forms born of Jazz but advanced using any sonic source material that forwards their own indefinable thing. The past 15 years have seen the genre-smashing band creating a distinctive and original repertoire of inventive and exciting original music, along with a series of iconoclastic covers of such divergent artists as Nirvana and Neil Young, Aphex Twin and Ornette Coleman. Album Tracks 1. I Hear You 2. Gold Prisms Incorporated 3. Self Serve 4. You Will Lose All Fear 5. Do It Again 6. Epistolary Echoes 7. Adopted Highway 8. Mr. Now 9. Inevitable Western

Concerto Köln is one of the leading orchestras for historically informed musical performances and recordings. Recent concerts of Wagner's InchRheingoldInch and an album released together with soprano Jeanine de Bique have been celebrated and praised by critics and listeners alike. The conceptual originality of their work seems endless. In their newest album InchPi - PisendelInch, baroque violinist Mayumi Hirasaki, Concerto Köln's leading concertmaster for the past ten years is highlighted. As an inspiration for the program served her historical role model, the violin virtuoso, composer and concertmaster himself Johann Georg Pisendel. According to Hirasaki InchIt should be a program that doesn't only focus on me as a violinist, but also unfolds the virtuosity of the whole orchestra.Inch Together as a unit concertmaster and ensemble present a diverse selection of Pisendel's pieces that stand out through their rich orchestration, stylistic variety and instrumental virtuosity. Led by one of the UK's most formidable jazz pianists, George Cooper, The Jazz Defenders are a group born from a deep love of Blue Note jazz, drawing on a wealth of inspiration to craft their own raw and vibrant compositions. The hard bop recordings of Horace Silver, Hank Mobley, Lee Morgan and Art Blakey were highly regarded for a reason - catchy horn lines and incredible musicianship combined with Rudy Van Gelder's engineering skills mean they will forever be regarded as classics of the genre. The Jazz Defenders are a group that defends the legacy of those recordings whilst creating it's own original identity and distinction. The music they produce together is a modern soul jazz slant on this classic hard bop, effortlessly channeling the spirit of the golden Blue Note era of jazz. The group's brainchild, pianist and composer George Cooper, has at a young age already amassed a comprehensive repertoire of musical credits including Hans Zimmer, Nigel Kennedy, U2, Omar, Slum Village, MF Doom, The Brand New Heavies, The Haggis Horns, Abstract Orchestra and Lack of Afro.George Cooper - Piano KeyboardsWill Harris - BassIan Matthews - DrumsNick Malcolm - TrumpetJake McMurchie - Tenor Sax Album Tracks 1.
