First time on CD for this incendiary live set of greatest hits of The Bevis Frond circa 1998. Featuring over an hour's worth of prime Frond, it mixes the bittersweet melodies of Nick Saloman's much-covered 'Lights Are Changing' and 'He'd Be A Diamond' with fuzz fuelled riffs and masterful solo-ing. Played as a power trio with Saloman enlists his long-time associate and former Hawkwind bass player Adrian Shaw, and Andy Ward, former drummer with 70s prog giants Camel. With a staggering ten-minute rethinking of Love's come down anthem 'Signed DC' closing the show. This set also includes culled cuts from their debut 'Miasma' through to the groundbreaking 'New River Head' and beyond into the 90s. 2020 . From the mastermind of Dutch multi-instrumentalist Arjen Lucassen, Transitus is inspired by supernatural movies such as The Others, The Changeling and Ghost along with the music of soundtrack composers John Carpenter (Halloween), Ennio Morricone (Once upon a Time in the West) and Jerry Goldsmith (Omen). Transitus is narrated by one of the most iconic and recognizable voices in sci-fi history, most known from his eight-year stint as Doctor Who, Tom Baker. Double CD edition including bonus tracks. Digitally remastered edition. 1994's Sprawl, originally released on Woronzow, features Nick with Jimmy Hastings (flute), Tony Aldridge (violin) and Andy Ward on drums. Vocals here were provided by Ade Shaw, Dean Carter and Mick Donovan along with Current 93's David Tibet guesting with spoken word on the spiritual 'Right On (hippy dream)'. Hypnotic 12 minute psych piece 'Awake' is interspersed with instrumentals and the grungy guitars of 'The Puller' are offset by Aldridge's strings. The tenth studio album in less than a decade since and Sprawl - once again - demonstrates Nick's immeasurable songwriting power. The Bevis Frond is a British group whose range covers hard edge to melancholy vintage indie rock to poetic, classic-rock songcraft. Nick Saloman is the band's frontman and songwriter.
