The Clean - Anthology - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

JUNO award winner Rose Cousins is interested in the juxtaposition of things. Her new album, BRAVADO, peers behind the kinds of doors we tend to leave closed, [for better or worse, or both]. It is the sound of a heart trying to open. It is a bold swagger, a vulnerable facade. 'BRAVADO is an exploration of self-worth and an investigation into the nuances of our tough exteriors - why we act brave while feeling afraid, how we appear impressive while privately questioning our worthiness, how confidence shares space with shame.' Cousins' last project, Natural Conclusion, received much acclaim, including a Grammy nomination, a JUNO nomination for Songwriter of the Year, and 3 wins at the East Coast Music Awards. Rose's songs have appeared on Grey's Anatomy, Supergirl, Reign, Nashville, and others. She has shared stages with heroic songwriters such as Patty Griffin, Shawn Colvin, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Jann Arden & Ron Sexsmith.

Two CD reissue. Long before Lionel Richie became one of the biggest pop solo stars of the eighties, he was a member of the Commodores, once dubbed InchThe Funkiest Band In The LandInch and one of Motown's most successful acts during the seventies. With the numerous compilations this seemed to capture all their favorite songs and more. From the earlier hits like InchBrick HouseInch sung by drummer Walter InchClydeInch Orange to the later and biggest hits InchEasyInch and InchThree Times A LadyInch sung by Lionel Richie. What makes this one special is that songs like InchJesus Is LoveInch and some of their earlier instrumentals and hard to find songs are included. There is also a rare gem included on this set, an early Commodores single that didn't do anything but is nonetheless worth having; InchAre You Happy?Inch

In 1978, The Clean were the seeds of New Zealand punk. They carved out a big sandbox for everyone to play in, and their influence resonated not only in NZ but around the world. This summer's Mister Pop sees The Clean continue the great pop pastiche. Circus ragas (InchMoonjumperInch), hazy sunset anthems (InchIn the Dreamlife You Need a Rubber SoulInch), and the loose Dada approach to wordsmithery continue alongside InchproperInch lyrical forays and a few Autobahn-referential instro moments to boot(InchTensileInch).
