Chicago, 1955 Mamie Till (Danielle Deadwyler) saw her 14-year-old son Emmett (Jalyn Hill) off to spend the summer with family in Mississippi. She'd never see him alive again, as two locals beat and shot him for allegedly whistling at a white woman. After the assailants' swift acquittal, she'd channel her sorrow into a lifetime's activism and ensuring her son's story would be known to the world. Sobering portrait also stars Whoopi Goldberg, Frankie Faison, Haley Bennett, Jamie Renell. 130 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English.
