About this product
2023 sees Dark Horses awaken from their slumber to deliver a pandemic-delayed record of moody, sonic atmospheres with a booster shot of soul. Recorded alongside technical wizard Bob Earland (Radiophonic Workshop), While We Were Sleeping is musically complex and daring -as the album unfolds, Lisa Elle's vocals trade blows with wiry guitar lines and motorik drums, float over fuzzed-up basslines and dissolve into layers of woozy analogue synths. Lyrically, the album reflects the challenging circumstances in which it was conceived, treading the razor's edge between nihilism and collectivism, anxiety and serenity, suspicion and trust. But the thread running through it is a sense that we're all sharing this short act we call life, so the least we can do is show each other empathy, respect and - hell, who cares what they say - love. This 12Inch LP is pressed on clear w/lime green smoke 140 gram vinyl with a gatefold sleeve and a card.

LUCINDA WILLIAMS / WORLD'S GONE WRONG (CD) - Throughout her long career, Lucinda Williams has never shied away from writing about difficult but real things. If you think about it, you could call InchChange The LocksInch a topical song ahead of it's time. There were several biting and brave songs on her Good Souls Better Angels album, as well as the post-Covid masterpiece Stories From A Rock N Roll Heart. With World's Gone Wrong, Lucinda ups the ante on topical songs. It is a pure reflection of our very turbulent times, intense and musically powerful.
Straight from the praries of Kortrijk, WHORSES have buckeld themselves firmly in the sadlle of the Belgian rock scene since they struck their fiorst note, somewhere back in 2017. These four cowboys found each other in a mutual quest for something new. As boundless as their music, WHORSES debuts with an 18-track double album, and although there might be some signs of schizophrenia showing, this true pièce de resistance breaths honesty and pure expression through every pore. WHORSES is a band of extremes, bringing out the roughest and softest in themselves and in everyone who dares to dive into that pool of blunt, deep cutting, ever evolving and limitless sounds.
