Paradise Is There The New Tigerlily Recordings revisits Merchant's multi-platinum solo debut, Tigerlily, originally released in 1995 following her departure from 10,000 Maniacs. Paradise Is There presents the songs as they have evolved over the past two decades of live performance. Joining Merchant on the album, which she produced herself, are her long-time band members Gabriel Gordon (guitar), Jesse Murphy (bass), Uri Sharlin (piano and accordion), and Allison Miller (drums), as well as a string quartet-Scot Moore (violin), Shawn Moore (violin), Marandi Hostetter (viola), and Stanley Moore (cello)-plus Sharel Cassity (saxophone) and guest vocals by Simi Stone, Gail Ann Dorsey, and Elizabeth Mitchell.

All vinyl packaging has been designed by id Software, featuring artwork by the id Software concept art team as well as Grzegorz Domaradzki.The game's original score was created by Finishing Move, composers comprised of Brian Trifon, Brian Lee White, Jay Wiltzen, and Alex Klingle, who have delivered a soundtrack worthy of the Slayer's legend. The music is a sonic reflection of the game's adrenaline-fuelled action, it's unique Medieval setting, and the raw energy of the classic DOOM experience.Elements of thrash metal, modern deathcore, early doom metal and Swedish black metal bleed into brutal guitar breakdowns and downtempo grooves, while traditional folk instruments such as the Nordic bass tagelharpa, balalaika and massive animal hide drums are combined with modern synths for a dark and gritty sound that feels raw, primal and unmistakably DOOM.

And, while being recognizably related to it's predecessor, it's an altogether different beast. Present and accounted for are the Victorian literary tropes, the rakish mariners, and the Dickensian downtrodden that slouched their way across the laser imprinted surface of Castaways; in Her Majesty a new cast of characters is introduced as well, giving further depth to the richly bizarre songcraft of Colin Meloy an aristocratic Jewess, slumming it blindfolded among the exotic avenues of a Chinese bazaar, the coifed and coked-up bon vivants of greater L.A., the writer Myla Goldberg, and a pair of affectionate soldiers, celebrating their comradery among the mortar blasts and trench mud of World War I Belgium.
